Pylon Restraint System

In an embodiment, a rotorcraft includes an airframe; a main rotor transmission; one or more brackets mounting the main rotor transmission to the airframe, longitudinal axes of the one or more brackets being substantially parallel with a longitudinal axis of the rotorcraft; and one or more restraints mounting the main rotor transmission to the airframe, the one or more restraints being mounted at an angle non-orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the rotorcraft and a lateral axis of the rotorcraft.

HUMAN AND/OR NON-HUMAN CARGO ATTACHMENT DEVICE FOR USE WITH A ROTORCRAFT

A human and/or non-human cargo attachment device for a rotorcraft. The device comprises a mounting interface with a carrier device and an attachment that is rigidly mounted to the carrier device for attachment to a rotorcraft rope or cable. A device body is mounted to the carrier device. The device body has a stationary body section and a movable body section. The stationary body section is stationarily arranged on the carrier device and comprises a plurality of rotatable attachment hooks for attachment of human or non-human external cargo. The movable body section is movably arranged on the carrier device for enabling movements of the movable body section relative to the stationary body section between a locking position and a release position.

METHOD AND A DEVICE FOR ASSISTING THE PILOTING OF AN AIRCRAFT, AND AN AIRCRAFT
20170341771 · 2017-11-30 · ·

A method of assisting the piloting of an aircraft. A collective pitch margin of a main rotor is determined by applying a recursive algorithm using a main relationship that supplies said collective pitch margin at each current calculation instant as a function of the quotient of a limiting power margin divided by a denominator, the denominator being equal to the product of a first term multiplied by a second term, the first term being a function of the current collective pitch at said current calculation instant and of the collective pitch limit at a previous calculation instant prior to said current calculation instant, said second term being a function at least of a predetermined coefficient for reducing said power margin of the power plant.

A force generator includes a hub, which is rotatable about an axis thereof, an elongate member coupled to the hub such that the elongate member is rotatable with the hub and extends radially outwardly away from the hub and the axis along a radial dimension defined with respect to the axis and a mass, which is movably disposed along the elongate member and is adjustable to multiple radial mass positions relative to the hub.

VIBRATION CONTROL ASSEMBLY FOR AN AIRCRAFT AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING AIRCRAFT VIBRATION
20170334553 · 2017-11-23 ·

A vibration control assembly for an aircraft including a housing operatively coupled to the aircraft. Also included is a cage disposed within an interior region of the housing, the cage rotatable within the housing about a first axis. Further included is a gyroscope wheel disposed within the cage and rotatable about a second axis other than the first axis, wherein a controllable moment is imposed on the aircraft upon rotation of the gyroscope wheel to counter vibratory moments produced by the vehicle.

AIRCRAFT ROTOR BLADE WITH REDUCED STRESS
20170334554 · 2017-11-23 ·

An aircraft rotor blade includes a surface of the rotor blade, at least one main hole that extends through the surface and has a width and a length, and at least one leader hole that extends through the surface and has a length that is less than the length of the main hole and arranged spaced from and adjacent the main hole. The leader hole gradually increases in width from a first end of the leader hole opposite the main hole to an opposed second end of the leader hole proximate the main hole to operatively gradually distribute stress in the leader and main holes and rotor blade and reduce an amount of the stress exerted therein.

Systems, devices, and methods for stopping the rotation of propellers used in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) such as drones are disclosed. The propellers are stopped in response to detecting when beams of light adjacent the propellers are blocked.

AIRCRAFT LOAD AND VIBRATION ATTENUATION

In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises a particle damper for damping a component when the particle damper is attached to the component. The particle damper comprises a plurality of pockets configured to hold a plurality of particles, and the particle damper also comprises an attachment fitting for coupling the particle damper to the component.

Wireless rotating instrumentation system and methods for data collection on helicopter rotor systems

The application relates to a wireless rotating instrumentation package for collecting data from a spinning rotor head of a rotary wing aircraft. The application also relates to a method of wirelessly collecting data from a spinning rotor head of a rotary wing aircraft.

Autonomous Aerial Vehicle Hardware Configuration

An introduced autonomous aerial vehicle can include multiple cameras for capturing images of a surrounding physical environment that are utilized for motion planning by an autonomous navigation system. In some embodiments, the cameras can be integrated into one or more rotor assemblies that house powered rotors to free up space within the body of the aerial vehicle. In an example embodiment, an aerial vehicle includes multiple upward-facing cameras and multiple downward-facing cameras with overlapping fields of view to enable stereoscopic computer vision in a plurality of directions around the aerial vehicle. Similar camera arrangements can also be implemented in fixed-wing aerial vehicles.
