Reconnaissance and payload deployment methods for robotic space exploration
A method for the deployment of reconnaissance devices including buoy cameras and robotic devices in a target mission area of a remote location in space utilizing a maneuverable descent de-booster capsule and a buoyant vessel for the deployment is disclosed, including identifying the target area from an orbiting spacecraft; deploying the de-booster into orbit over the target area; initiating gradual descent of the de-booster in the atmosphere of the remote location in space; ejecting the buoyant vessel and its payload from the de-booster; filling the buoyant portion of the buoyant vessel with a lifting gas to cause the buoyant portion to become a large balloon; activating reconnaissance devices on the bay portion of the buoyant vessel, including video and other devices for monitoring and surveiling the target mission area; maneuvering the buoyant vessel to refine mission site selection; opening cargo bay doors at a predetermined altitude to deliver payloads including buoy cameras to the target mission area; causing the at least one buoyant vessel to rise in the atmosphere over the target mission area after payload delivery; and activating communication relay functions in the buoyant vessel while maintaining ongoing reconnaissance activities.

Additive manufacturing on-orbit
A spacecraft includes an additive manufacturing (A/M) subsystem and one or both of a thermal control arrangement and a contamination control arrangement. The A/M subsystem includes an A/M tool, feedstock and a workpiece and is configured to additively manufacture the workpiece using material from the feedstock. The thermal control arrangement is operable, in an on-orbit space environment characterized by near vacuum pressure and near zero-g force, to maintain temperature of at least one of the A/M tool, the feedstock, and the workpiece within respective specified ranges. The contamination control arrangement is operable, in the on-orbit space environment, to control outgassing of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

A spacecraft includes an additive manufacturing (A/M) subsystem and one or both of a thermal control arrangement and a contamination control arrangement. The A/M subsystem includes an A/M tool, feedstock and a workpiece and is configured to additively manufacture the workpiece using material from the feedstock. The thermal control arrangement is operable, in an on-orbit space environment characterized by near vacuum pressure and near zero-g force, to maintain temperature of at least one of the A/M tool, the feedstock, and the workpiece within respective specified ranges. PRINTER AND PRINTING METHOD FOR SPACE AND PRESSURE SUITS USING ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING
The present disclosure relates to printing apparatus and manufacturing techniques for the manufacture and fabrication of pressure suits and space suits. The disclosure also relates to space suit components formed from additive polymer, and components including one or more layers of a mesh fabric with an applied layer of an additive polymer. One method includes providing an apparatus comprised of a six-degree of freedom motion manipulator with the motion manipulator attached to one or more printing extruder heads. Additive polymers may be extruded via the one or more printing extruder heads to form 3D printed space suit components.
Biomanufacturing System, Method, and 3D Bioprinting Hardware in a Reduced Gravity Environment
A method, apparatus, and system are provided for the printing and maturation of living tissue in an Earth-referenced reduced gravity environment such as that found on a spacecraft or on other celestial bodies. The printing may be three-dimensional structures. The printed structures may be manufactured from low viscosity biomaterials.

A mobile image pickup device includes an imaging unit (20), an acceleration and angular velocity detecting unit, a processing unit that processes acceleration and angular velocity information which is detected by the acceleration and angular velocity detecting unit, a reaction wheel that rotates based on a command value which is calculated by the processing unit, and a housing (10) that accommodates the imaging unit (20), the acceleration and angular velocity detecting unit, the processing unit, and the reaction wheel therein.
SAMPLING METHOD AND SAMPLING SYSTEM
A sampling method includes: obtaining topographical information about a predetermined wide area by using a first sensor on a work machine; selecting a candidate area within the wide area, the candidate area is less than an area of the wide area, and setting a movement route based on the information about the wide area, the movement route allows a distal end portion of an arm provided on the work machine to reach a preparation position without coming into contact with an obstacle, the preparation position being located above the candidate area; moving the distal end portion of the arm along the movement route to the preparation position, and obtaining topographical information about the candidate area by using a second sensor on the distal end portion of the arm; and specifying a sampling point based on the information about the candidate area and performing sampling at the specified sampling point.
PanelSat—stack able satellite with fuel free attitude control
The PanelSat serves to launch one, better several satellites into space, whereby besides unfurling of the thin film solar cell panels off their rolls no further deployment is needed. PanelSats are small agile spacecraft thought especially for observation and communication services in LEO, which are using their thin film solar cell panels for both, harvesting electric energy as well as for fuel less station keeping, steering, pointing and propulsion. In contrast to conventional satellites with their 3-axis control design, PanelSats are not locked to only 3 axles and can tilt and point into several directions (depending on the number of panels). Besides Roller Reefing for fuel less attitude control PanelSats feature “Soso Steering” (switch on, switch off) which adds even better fuel less agility compared to prior art satellites.
