A packaging system and method forms a bundled group of articles in an oriented arrangement, by applying a wrapping material to the articles via the bottoms of the articles while the oriented arrangement of articles is inverted and retained by a pallet. The wrapping material may be a sleeve of shrinkable material applied to the inverted end of the articles and shrunk to conform to the articles and form a base enclosing the bottoms of the articles. The articles are retained by the pallet in the oriented arrangement during the inverting, sleeving and bundling of the group of articles, to provide a bundled group including the articles securely contained by the shrunk wrapping in the oriented arrangement. The bundled group may include more than one type of article. The pallet may be configured to retain a top portion of the article, which may have an irregular or asymmetrical shape.

An orbital wrapping apparatus for wrapping a cargo in a stretch film comprises a base frame, a circular ring assembly mounted on the base frame and rotatable with respect to the base frame about an axis of rotation, a stretch film dispenser mounted on the circular ring assembly and rotatable with the circular ring assembly about the axis of rotation, and a cutting assembly mounted to the base frame and extending through an opening defined by the circular ring assembly. The stretch film dispenser has a roll of stretch film dispensing the stretch film by rotation of the circular ring assembly. The cutting assembly is adapted to cut and hold the stretch film.

A self-standing container for holding and pre-soaking a cooking plank in a soaking liquid includes flexible walls forming a bag-like container with a chamber to receive the plank and the liquid. The container includes a deployable standing structure to enable the container to be placed in an upright position to conserve counter space. The container with a plank and liquid may be packaged for retail sale and later reuse.

A packaging apparatus includes a packaging unit and two heater rollers. The packaging unit installs a stretch film on an article to be packaged and discharges the article to be packaged installed with the stretch film along a conveyance surface. The two heater rollers heat the stretch film positioned below the article to be packaged discharged from the packaging unit. The heater rollers have contact portions with the article to be packaged positioned higher than the conveyance surface. Among the two heater rollers, height of the contact portion of one heater roller on a upstream side in a discharge direction relative to the conveyance surface is lower than height of the contact portion of the other heater roller on a downstream side in the discharge direction relative to the conveyance surface.

A packaging apparatus includes a packaging unit and two heater rollers. A device for supporting and flavoring a food during cooking, such as grilling, baking or roasting, including a packaging structure with an interior; and a wooden plank removably located within the packaging structure interior; wherein the wooden plank includes a quantity of liquid such as water, broth or juice. The wooden plank is made of a food-safe wood, such as but not limited to oak wood, maple wood, pine wood, cedar wood, alder wood, cherry wood, hickory wood or ash wood. The wooden plank is pre-soaked in the liquid, such that the wooden plank smolders during the cooking process, thereby smoking the food. The pre-soaked wooden plank is packaged, so that is will not dry out substantially before use by the user.

A wrapping device to wrap an object in foil material including a frame, a wrapping table mounted on the frame and configured to support the object during wrapping, one or more roll support devices to support one or more rolls of foil material to be rotated about the object during wrapping, a carrying structure mounted on the frame and configured to carry the one or more roll support devices, and a clamping and cutting device to clamp the foil material after wrapping of an object, and to cut the clamped foil material, wherein the clamping and cutting device is mounted on the carrying structure, and wherein the carrying structure is pivotable about a substantially horizontal pivot axis with respect to the frame.

A wrapping device to wrap an object in foil material including a frame, a wrapping table mounted on the frame and configured to support the object during wrapping, one or more roll support devices to support one or more rolls of foil material to be rotated about the object during wrapping, a carrying structure mounted on the frame and configured to carry the one or more roll support devices, and a clamping and cutting device to clamp the foil material after wrapping of an object, and to cut the clamped foil material, wherein the clamping and cutting device is mounted on the carrying structure, and wherein the carrying structure is pivotable about a substantially horizontal pivot axis with respect to the frame.
