HYDRODEGRADABLE PACKAGING MATERIAL

The invention is directed to a water-soluble, environmentally-friendly, packaging wrap for the packaging of goods and parcels. The packaging wrap is formed by sealing together at least two sheets of water-soluble polymeric film to form unsealed areas within the wrap. After the goods or parcels are wrapped with the packaging material, air is then injected into the unsealed areas of the wrap to form air chambers to cushion the goods during transport.

A METHOD FOR CLASSIFYING A PACKAGE

A method of classifying a package based on stiffness of the package, wherein the package includes carton and is filled with food product, the method including applying a force on the package, retrieving a sample value by measuring a deformation of the package caused by the force, determining a difference between the sample value and a reference value, and classifying the package as belonging to a first category if the difference is within a threshold interval, otherwise classifying the package as belonging to a second category.

Method of heat-treatment of a product in a sealed container of a packaging material

A method of heat-treatment of a product in a sealed container of a packaging material is described. The method includes placing the container in a treatment environment having a pressure (P) and a temperature (T), the pressure and the temperature having a ratio (P/T), and adjusting the temperature and/or pressure in the treatment environment to decrease the ratio over a duration in a time period. The time period starts at a time of cooking onset of the product and extends over a time of cooling onset at which time a temperature decrease is started, the time of cooking onset being preceded by a first time period of temperature ramping during which the temperature is increased. An apparatus for controlling heat-treatment of a product in a sealed container of a packaging material is also described.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR STORING AND/OR TRANSPORTING TEMPERATURE-SENSITIVE MATERIALS

Method and system for storing and/or transporting temperature-sensitive materials. In one embodiment, the system is designed for use as a dry ice shipper and includes an outer box, a vacuum insulated panel (VIP) base assembly, a VIP lid assembly, and a gas flow director. The VIP base assembly is positioned within the outer box and includes five VIPs arranged to form a container having a bottom, four sides, and an open top. The VIP lid assembly, which may be coupled to a top closure flap of the outer box, includes a VIP dimensioned to close the open top of the VIP base assembly. The gas flow director, which may comprise a bag having an opening at its top end, may be positioned within the outer box and may be used to receive the VIP base assembly. The gas flow director inhibits convective gas flow that promotes excessive dry ice sublimation.

A packaged article is composed of a bulk bag having a top end and a bottom end. Further included is a pallet having a first side and a second side. Also included are an outer bag having a first closed end and a first open end and a heatshrink bag having a second closed end and a second open end. The first closed end of the outer bag is between the bottom end of the bulk bag and the first side of the pallet. The first open end of the outer bag is gathered over the top end of the bulk bag to enclose the bulk bag within the outer bag. The second closed end of the heatshrink bag is proximate to the top end of the bulk bag and the second open end contacts the second side of the pallet.
