Coated hot drink cup

A cup or food container has a coating formed of a styrene acrylic copolymer emulsion. There may be one or more coating layers on the inside surface of the cup or container. Importantly, the cup or container does not have any petroleum-based paraffin or polymer material or functionally similar hydrogenated triglyceride material coated on or incorporated in the cup or container. The paper substrate onto which the styrene acrylic copolymer emulsion is coated must have adequate sizing incorporated therein so that the coating forms a relatively smooth surface. Differently-sourced paper may require different amounts of sizing according to the particular paper being used. The cup or container may have a primer coating applied thereto before the styrene acrylic copolymer is coated on. Optionally, the uncoated paper stock that forms the cup or food container is calendared between rolls before coating.

An apparatus for forming a box or bag that is made of a substrate strip which includes a winder having a mandrel and posts that extend from the mandrel in a direction parallel to a winding and translation axis that rotate together as a unit around the translation axis. The apparatus also has a feeder that includes precursors and a gathering head used for forming the precursors into the strip and feeding the strip to the winder. A motor adjusts the feeder's angle relative to the winder in response to instructions from the controller based on the dimensions of the box or bag. This causes controlled overlap between adjacent windings of the strip on the posts. As the mandrel rotates, the posts draw the strip and wind the strip along a spiral having a length in excess of the depth. Zero waste of precursors is made possible by cutting the substrate perpendicular to its length and folding over the box or bag ends to form an angled seam with respect to the sides of the box.

Liquid bag product case

A product case for receiving a fluid bag used in gravity based fluid dispensing systems. The product case has a floor and sidewalls that form a rectangular enclosure for the fluid bag, and a bag supporter in contact with the fluid bag. The bag supporter includes a notch formed in a top edge of one sidewall to facilitate receipt of material of the fluid bag, a slot in the one sidewall extending from a bottom of the triangular shaped notch and configured to receive and retain the material of the fluid bag, and a removable retaining wall held by support structures on a pair of the sidewalls opposing each other to divide the rectangular enclosure into a smaller enclosure. The sidewalls and the removable retaining wall constrain the fluid bag within the smaller enclosure, while the triangular shaped notch and the slot minimizes fluid bag material from covering the outlet nozzle as the fluid bag empties and provides for repeatable flow characteristics for portion control applications.

A dispenser for discharging beverage can comprise a cock configured to control discharge of the beverage; a lever connected to a rotary shaft of the cock; a rotary valve connected to the rotary shaft and defining a rotary interspace configured to rotate together with the rotary shaft; and a fixed valve fixed to a cock body of the cock and defining a fixed hole configured to not move even when the rotary shaft is rotated; wherein the dispenser is configured to discharge the beverage when the lever is rotated to overlap a position of the rotary interspace and the fixed hole; and wherein the cock is configured to fix the fixed valve at one of a first position and a second position, the second position being different from the first position.

Method for Producing a Leak-Tight Vessel, and a Leak-Tight Vessel

The present invention describes a method for producing a leak-tight vessel for holding a gas and/or liquid, comprising the steps of winding a heat-sealable thermoplastic barrier strip around a removable mandrel in such a way that each strip fragment overlaps with a substantially parallel strip fragment over at least a lateral overlapping distance, consolidating the overlapping strip fragments so as to form a gas and/or liquid tight layer, winding a fibrous material around the gas and/or liquid tight layer, thereby leaving an opening large enough for removing the mandrel. The invention also describes a leak-tight vessel produced in this way.
