20190283940 · 2019-09-19 ·

A liquid container lid assembly enables a user to more effectively control liquid egression from a liquid container as outfitted with the lid assembly. The lid assembly includes a lower lid construction and an upper lid construction. The lower lid construction includes an upper-receiving depression having at least one liquid-letting aperture. The lower lid construction is removably attachable to an upper container rim of a liquid container and the upper-receiving depression includes concave upper portion surfacing. The upper lid construction is nestable in superior adjacency to the upper-receiving depression and includes a lower-opposing portion and a primary liquid outlet. The lower-opposing portion includes convex lower portion surfacing, which convex lower portion surfacing mimics the concave upper portion surfacing for eliminating gaps therebetween. The primary liquid outlet is orientable in superior adjacency to the lower lid construction for selectively outletting liquid received in an assembly-outfitted liquid container.

The method includes (i) providing a liquid container, which is open on one side and has a container wall with an inner wall surface, where the inner wall surface is formed at least partially as a surface of a solid natural stone; (ii) cooling down at least a partial section of the liquid container with respect to the temperature of the surrounding atmosphere; (iii) introducing a liquid into the liquid container that has been cooled down according to step (ii); and (iv) initiating a chemical and/or biochemical conversion of the liquid that has been filled in, such as fermentation or a conversion of sugar to alcohol, for generating the liquid or a pre-product, wherein during the conversion no further measure or process for cooling the liquid container and/or the liquid residing therein is, respectively, taken or performed.

Cup lid manufacturing process

A substantially crimpless and monolithic paperboard container lid and method of making same is provided. The lid comprises a single contiguous molded paperboard body configured to conformingly couple to a top periphery of a container for covering the container's opening. The body includes a sealing ring located adjacent the body's periphery. The sealing ring includes a sealing channel composed of a radiused cross-section that extends to a tangent ring terminating with a tab ring. The radiused cross-section and tangent ring assist providing a snug fit between the lid and the container. Despite being made from paperboard, the lid does not include one or more substantial crimps in the sealing ring. Having no substantial crimps, the lid fits onto the container and prevents fluid from leaking between the container's periphery and the lid.
