Reseal label for box in a box re-sealable pack

A container includes a rigid outer box and a rigid inner box wherein a pull tab is configured to reseal a pre-cut opening in the inner box. The pull tab includes a cover layer larger than the pre-cut opening. The cover layer can be a piece of bundle wrap with a paper layer of the bundle wrap contacting the consumer goods inside the box. The outer box has a hinged lid permanently attached to a connecting tab of the pull tab whereby opening the hinged lid simultaneously opens the pre-cut opening in the inner box by lifting the pull tab. The connecting tab includes adhesive which is partially deadened to decrease adhesion of the connecting tab to the inner box. The pull tab can also include one or more machine readable markings to enhance automated application of the pull tab to an inner box blank during manufacturing of the container.

A product display platform for use in the packaging and display of a food or other product is disclosed. The product display platform is comprised of a base panel having a peripheral edge defining a central area for receiving a product and a sidewall downwardly depending from the peripheral edge of the base panel, the sidewall being generally continuous around the perimeter of the base panel. In some embodiments the base panel is formed with a textured pattern to enhance the packaging/storing of the product, especially for food products, and also provides aesthetic appeal. In use, a protective film arranged over top of and around the product and product display platform is subject to a heat shrink wrapping process allowing the product arranged on the base panel to be fully viewable when arranged on the corresponding product display platform.

Preferably, the film is a polyethylene-based thermally-shrinkable multilayer film for pack-in box packaging in which the film as a whole has a thickness of 25 μm or less.

The top panel of the retaining sleeve includes a proximal edge, a distal edge, an outer edge, a cut that extends inwardly from the outer edge, and an extended tab that extends along the outer edge of the top panel and distally beyond the cut formed in the outer edge of the top panel. The extended tab is tucked under the connecting panel and disposed between the connecting panel and one of the first and second lateral sides of the tray covered by the connecting panel. A retainer lid covers the distal end of the top panel of the retainer sleeve and is connected with the distal end of the tray for securing the distal end of the retainer sleeve to the tray.

The present invention relates to improved packages which include a rigid or semi-rigid tray having a single thermoplastic overwrap comprising a polymeric laminate surrounding the tray and having a front panel and an opposing back panel. The inventive packages also include a continuous seal circumscribing a recessed cavity of the tray which comprises a heat seal formed by heat sealing a portion of the front panel to the peripheral flange of the tray. Advantageously, when the tray is removed from the overwrap, a portion of the first film separates from the laminate and remains peelably sealed to the flange of the tray and thus, may serve as a lidding film for the container. Since the recessed cavity is still covered, the container may then be placed directly in a microwave or conventional oven to thaw and/or cook the food container within the package without first removing the lidding film.
