A modular portable storage container system includes container sections, each having a frame. A latch mechanism retains the frames against an infrastructure substrate. The latch mechanism has: a spring latch, latch receiver, and retaining hook. The container sections are movable between unlatched and latched positions. When unlatched, the container sections are movable relative to the substrate and when latched the frames of the container sections are retained in contact with mounting points of the substrate via the latch mechanism. The spring latch and the latch engage one another when the container sections are in the latched position, and the retaining hook engages with the frame to rotatably retain the frame. The spring latch and retaining hook include mounting flanges that are selectively slidably and fixedly mountable to mounting points of the infrastructure substrate in one or more positions defined by a size of the container sections.

Item mortality, such as failure rates and expected remaining lifespan, may be determined based on tracked environmental conditions during transit, such as vibration, temperature, and other conditions. For complex items, multiple different internal components may have varying degrees of susceptibility to damage from unfavorable conditions, with each of the components able to individually cause a failure of the entire item. Thus, the specific set of internal components may drive item mortality prediction. Sensors may be located in shipping containers that share data collected throughout the supply chain, using a blockchain, to increase confidence in the integrity of the data. The use of mortality models generated with anonymized component or process data may enable manufacturers to protect trade secrets, such as the specific components or manufacturing processes used, even while leveraging the manufacturer's detailed knowledge of an item.

A modular particulate storage system includes a plurality of portable skids, wherein each skid includes an elongate rectangular base supporting a floor section and a wall section extending upward from the floor section. The plurality of portable skids are securable together in a side-by-side configuration to form a storage bay having a contiguous rectangular floor that combines the floor sections of the plurality of portable skids and a contiguous wall that combines the walls sections of the plurality of portion skids and extends along three sides of the contiguous rectangular floor. One side of the contiguous rectangular floor includes an open passageway into the storage bay. A skid may be formed as a trailer that may be lowered to be supported by the ground.

A container is suitable for intermodal freight transport and further suitable for conversion for use other than intermodal freight transport. The container includes walls. At least one of the walls includes an outer skin and an inner skin. The inner skin includes a plurality of parallel vertical strut channels.

An in-vehicle carrier system comprising: a base floor assembly including: a floor surface including a liquid drain, a supporting channel below the floor surface and open to the liquid drain, a pedestal below the floor surface and coupled to the supporting channel; a first sidewall attached to the base floor assembly on the floor surface; a second sidewall attached to the base floor assembly on the floor surface; and a crossbar attached above the pedestal and connected to the first sidewall and the second sidewall.

An in-vehicle carrier system comprising: a base floor assembly including: a floor surface including a liquid drain, a supporting channel below the floor surface and open to the liquid drain, a pedestal below the floor surface and coupled to the supporting channel; a first sidewall attached to the base floor assembly on the floor surface; a second sidewall attached to the base floor assembly on the floor surface; and a crossbar attached above the pedestal and connected to the first sidewall and the second sidewall.

A cargo pallet having parallel, spaced runners with parallel, spaced slats mounted transverse thereto by removable pins. Each of the slats is substantially identical and each has different opposing faces so that when the slats are reversed the different faces provide different cargo-supporting surfaces. There are slat grooves on the runners into which the slats are mounted, along with endwalls, to prevent something from extending between the slats and the runners to separate slats and runners. Blockers extend laterally from one or both sides of the slats to prevent a forklift from contacting the cargo, and when the slats are reversed the blockers interlace.
