Self-latching interbox connector for automatic securement of a top container to a bottom container

An interbox connector used in intermodal transportation systems is provided. The interbox connector is adapted to secure a top container to a bottom container in which the top container and bottom container each have corner castings. A plate is configured to be positioned between a corner casting of the bottom container and a corner casting of the top container prior to the top container being stacked on the bottom container. A first latch extends upwardly from the plate in which the first latch is configured to be disposed in the corner casting of the top container. A second latch extends downwardly from the plate in which the second latch is configured to be disposed in the corner castings of the bottom container. Placement of the top container on top of the bottom container causes the second latch and the first latch to automatically rotate and secure the top container to the bottom container.

System for joining containers for a first container (1) with doors at the front and rear thereof and a second container (2) with at least one door at the rear thereof, attached by the smaller sides, which comprises four hooks (3) on the four corners of the containers (1, 2), a plurality of sheets (4, 5) on the interior edge at the rear of the containers (1, 2) fixable to both and which cover the entire interior perimeter of the containers (1, 2), and means for adjusting the identification number of the containers (1, 2).

The means for adjusting the identification number can comprise a series of electronic screens (101, 102) on each container (1, 2) with two control units (102, 202), power sources, and communication means between the control units (102, 202) and optionally a contact (103, 203) in the support area of a sheet (4, 5).

A heavy-duty, thermoplastic storage bin comprises a rectilinear base, spaced columns integrally formed with the base, and rectangular end and side panels that are foldable and erectable with respect to the base. At least one of the panels is detachable from the base. At least one central column having an integral portion protrudes upwardly from an upper base surface and is interlockable with a corresponding side panel at a bottom center region, for generating a sufficiently high sagging resisting moment. In a method for emptying the bin, the base is supported by a forklift, after the bin has been loaded with desired products. Following a material handling operation by the forklift, a tilting device carried by the forklift is operated to sufficiently change a disposition of the bin such that the loaded products are caused to be emptied while a side panel remains engaged with the central and corner columns.

The top corner pieces are connected to a top cover corner column (122). Bottom corner pieces (111) are disposed on four corners of the chassis. The bottom corner pieces are connected to a chassis corner column (112). The connecting mechanism comprises a lifting lug (23) disposed on one of the top cover corner column (122) and the chassis corner column (112) and a locking plate (21) rotatably disposed on an outer end surface of the other one of the top cover corner column (122) and the chassis corner column (112). The locking plate (21) is provided with a hook portion fitted to the lifting lug. By means of the connecting mechanism, the top cover and the chassis can be automatically connected when the container is folded; and when the container is assembled, the operation efficiency is high and the inner size of the container is not affected.
