A sensing arrangement for indicating the depletion of a coreless roll of absorbent paper web material in a dispenser, the sensing arrangement includes a roll support for supporting an inner circumference of the coreless roll, the roll support extending along a longitudinal center axis, the roll support comprising at least one roll expanding portion extending over a part of the roll support length and having a maximum radial extension defining a first radius from the center axis, and at least one sensing portion, extending longitudinally over another part of the roll support length and having a maximum radial extension defining a second radius from the center axis, wherein the first radius is greater than the second radius by a sensing offset length, and a sensing element arranged to sense at the sensing portion the amount of web material remaining on the roll when arranged over the roll support length.

A winding condition generating apparatus includes: an input unit; an output unit; and a condition calculation unit. A winding condition calculation unit includes a learning model created by machine learning using a combination of a winding parameter and a winding condition in producing a wound web that satisfies a target winding quality as training data, and calculates a winding condition of a new wound web using the learning model, from a winding parameter of a new wound web input through the input unit. The output unit outputs the winding condition. The winding parameter includes a web width, a web transport velocity, and a web winding length. The winding condition includes a tension of the web at the start of winding and a tension of the web at the end of winding.
Paper conveyance mechanism
The invention provides a paper conveyance mechanism capable of curl correction of paper drawn out from roll paper according to the intensity of curl. The paper conveyance mechanism comprises an ironing part for correcting paper curl which is brought into contact with an outer surface of the paper, a pressing part which presses the paper from one side to bend the paper at the ironing part, and an arm engaged with an outer circumferential surface of the roll paper to be operated according to a change in a roll diameter. An upstream-side pressing part is moved from the one side toward the other side in association with an operation of the arm during at least part of a period of the operation of the arm to reduce an ironing angle formed in the paper bent at the ironing part according to a decrease in the roll diameter.
Control for Parent Roll Unwinding Apparatus and Methods
A control system for a converting line has a sensor configured to sense a distance between the sensor and a surface of a roll of web material as the roll of web material is unwound from an unwinder and directed to the converting line. The controller is configured to: (i) determine a diameter measurement of the roll as the roll rotates based upon the sensor signals; (ii) store a plurality of data structures in a memory of a controller of a control system wherein the data structures comprise a plurality of data items associated together as the diameter measurements of the roll of the web material; (iii) process by a statistical regression analysis the data structures associated with the diameter; and (iv) generate signals for controlling the converting line based upon the processed diameter measurements.

The drive transmission device including a tension applying device including a variable speed reducing device and a torque limiter, the variable speed reducing device and the torque limiter being disposed between the drive shaft of the drive device and the rotary shaft of the roll of the conveyance target medium. The variable speed reducing device of the tension applying device being configured to change a speed reduction ratio between the rotary shaft of the roll of the conveyance target medium and the torque limiter and to apply a tension force to the conveyance target medium.

A medium wind-up device is provided to suppress causing a wrinkle at a time of winding a medium, and also suppress a fluctuation of a winding position. The medium wind-up device includes: a tension roller that presses a medium, which is belt-shaped and transferred in a transfer direction that is predetermined, in order to provide the medium with a tension; a reversing roller that reverses the medium pressed by the tension roller, and the reversing roller being rotatable so as to follow a move of the medium; a loading mechanism that is capable of placing a load against a rotation of the reversing roller; and a wind-up portion that winds up the medium reversed by the reversing roller.
