RAPID REACTION HOOD SYSTEM
A rapid reaction hood system includes at least one linear conveyor and a hood attached to the at least one conveyor and including a slot configured to collect dust emissions. The rapid reaction hood system also includes at least one proximity sensor positioned on the hood and configured to detect a distance from the hood to a roll of material. The conveyor is configured to move the hood linearly in response to a detection by the at least one proximity sensor.

Paper sheet handling apparatus and method for controlling paper sheet handling apparatus
A control unit; a banknote handling module that includes a conveying mechanism, a first control circuit, and a second control circuit that is controlled by the first control circuit and that controls the conveying mechanism; a power supply unit; a first power supply cable that supplies electrical power from the power supply unit to the first control circuit; and a second power supply cable that supplies electrical power from the power supply unit to the second control circuit. The first control circuit includes a first connecting portion to which the first power supply cable is connected and a first hot plug-in circuit that is connected to the first connecting portion. The second control circuit includes a second connecting portion to which the second power supply cable is connected and a second hot plug-in circuit that is connected to the second connecting portion.
SHEET CONVEYING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A sheet conveying apparatus includes a second conveying roller adjoining a motor driven first conveying roller, a phase determiner to determine a rotational phase of a rotor of the motor, a controller, and a discriminator. The controller controls a drive current flowing through a winding of the motor to reduce phase deviation. The discriminator executes a discrimination regarding one of whether a front end of a sheet has reached a nip portion and whether a rear end of the sheet has passed through a nip portion. The controller controls such that the first conveying roller rotates at a first conveying roller peripheral velocity which is different from a peripheral velocity of the second conveying roller. The discriminator executes the discrimination based on a value of a parameter corresponding to a load torque applied to the rotor where the first conveying roller rotates at the first conveying roller peripheral velocity.
TAPE APPLICATOR WITH MAGNETIC ACTUATED BLADE GUARD
A tape applicator including a main frame, and a knife arm assembly. The knife arm assembly may include a magnet mounted in a stationary position relative to the main frame, and a knife arm pivotally mounted to the main frame. A blade may be mounted to the knife arm. A guard may be rotationally connected to the knife arm and configured to rotate between a closed position covering the blade and an open position exposing the blade. A spring may bias the guard toward the closed position. A catch may be associated with the guard comprising ferromagnetic material. The catch may be attracted to the magnet to open the guard as the knife arm swings to a cutting position.
AUTO FILM SPLICING ASSEMBLY WITH FILM ROLL POSITIONER
A splicing assembly for rolled sheet material, including first and second shafts for support of sheet material and a drive assembly for selectively dispensing sheet material. The assembly further includes a splicing apparatus for uniting a replacement with a winding down roll, and an egress guide assembly for receipt of dispensed sheet material exiting the splicing apparatus and passage of same intermediate the shafts. The splicing apparatus includes first and second sealing elements, and first and second carriages adapted and disposed for translation towards their respective sealing elements, a free end portion of sheet material of the replacement roll supported upon the first/second shaft for selective retention by the second/first sheet material carriage, and for translation to, and thereafter with, a portion of sheet material of the winding down roll supported upon the second/first shaft for urged combined engagement with a corresponding sealing element.

Winding device and cutoff detection method
A winding device includes a first roller that winds label roll paper that is composed with a continues base sheet, a plurality of labels and a marginal portion, a second roller that winds the marginal portion peeled off the label roll paper, a drive part that generates a driving force for the second roller to rotate, a drive transmission control part that is provided between the drive part and the second roller such that the driving force is transmitted to the second roller from the driving part, and stops transmitting the driving force to the second roller if a load placed on the second roller exceeds a prescribed load, a detection part that detects a rotation of the second roller, and a control part that determines a cutoff of the marginal portion based on the rotation of the second roller detected by the detection part.

CONTROL SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING THE ACCESS TO PROCESSING MACHINERY
The system comprises includes a fence inside which machines are arranged that are potentially dangerous for the operators, forming part of a processing plant for processing web material and producing rolls. A passage counting the number of operators entering the fence and exiting therefrom is so controlled as to be accessible only when the machines are not working and to allow a partial operation of the machines inside the fence under particular safety conditions.
