Disclosed are a composite layer, a composite layer lamination and a method of manufacturing a composite layer. The composite layer includes: a resin core formed in a plate-shape and comprising with a plurality of guide protrusions protruding along an edge of the resin core as being spaced apart at a predetermined distance from each other and a plurality of guide notches between the plurality of guide protrusions; and a reinforcing fiber wound around the resin core via the plurality of guide notches functioning as a guide for the reinforcing fiber.

Method of measuring the thickness of a fiber texture wound onto an impregnation mandrel, and a winder machine implementing such a method

A method of measuring the thickness of a fiber texture wound on an impregnation mandrel for fabricating an annular structural part of a turbine engine out of composite material, the method including, prior to winding the fiber texture, acquiring a reference distance between an outside surface of the impregnation mandrel and a distance sensor positioned facing the outside surface of the impregnation mandrel, while winding the fiber texture, acquiring at least one real distance between the distance sensor and the outside surface of the fiber texture wound on the impregnation mandrel, and calculating the real thickness of the fiber texture wound on the impregnation mandrel by subtracting the real distance from the reference distance.

Carriers for composite reinforcement systems and methods of use

Systems and methods for reinforcing structures with composite reinforcement systems are disclosed herein. According to aspects of the present disclosure, a carrier of a composite reinforcement system for repairing and/or reinforcing a physical structure is disclosed. The carrier includes a plurality of carbon fibers. Each carbon fiber has a longitudinal axis and a length extending in a generally 0 degree direction. The carrier further includes at least one fiberglass fiber having a longitudinal axis and a length extending in a generally 90 degree direction across the plurality of carbon fibers. The plurality of carbon fibers constitute at least about 70 wt % of the carrier and the at least one fiberglass fiber constitutes at most about 30 wt % of the carrier.

Strand-wound bladder

An article of footwear or another product may incorporate a pressure chamber that includes (a) a bladder at least partially formed from a polymer material that is sealed to enclose a pressurized fluid and (b) a strand wound around the bladder and secured to the bladder. In manufacturing the pressure chamber, a bladder with an elongate configuration may be formed. A strand is wound around the bladder, and the strand is secured to the bladder. When incorporated to a sole structure of the article of footwear, for example, a portion of the bladder that includes the strands may be exposed at an outer surface of the sole structure.

Fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites and methods of making

Methods of making a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic polyurethane composite are described. The methods may include applying a sizing composition to a plurality of fibers to make sized fibers, where the sizing composition may include at least one curative for a thermoplastic polyurethane prepolymer. The sized fibers may be contacted with a thermoplastic polyurethane prepolymer composition to form a resin-fiber amalgam, where the thermoplastic polyurethane prepolymer composition includes 50 wt. % or less of a total amount of the curative that is also present on the sized fibers. The resin-fiber amalgam may then be cured to form the fiber-reinforced thermoplastic polyurethane composite.

Winding method

A winding method includes rotating a winding drum; transferring a first web structure from a first lay down station to the web stabilizing bed of a first winding station; cutting the web structure; contacting the web structure with a web assembly hold down element, winding the web structure into a roll assembly; and discharging the roll assembly from the winding drum.

A reinforced hose includes a tube and a braided sleeve disposed about an outside of the tube. The braided sleeve includes a plurality of bundles. A bundle may be defined as a plurality of threads extending along a same path of a braiding pattern of the braided sleeve. At least one of the bundles includes a metallic thread and a non-metallic thread.
