CRISPY BANANA SNACK PRODUCTS
A porous, crunchy dried banana food product is made by mixing a ripe banana puree and either ripe or unripe banana flour to form a composition, and exposing the composition to microwave radiation at a pressure less than atmospheric to puff and dry the composition, producing the porous, crunchy dried banana food product. The method enables a food product based on banana puree to be dried to a porous, crunchy snack product by means of microwave vacuum drying without requiring non-banana thickeners.
PEPPER DE-STEMMING METHODS AND APPARATUS
A way of dealing with challenges to the pepper processing industry and pepper growers is to mechanize pepper processing, including the de-stemming of whole peppers. The present example provides a method for mechanically de-stemming whole peppers. The method provides for the recognition of a pepper's shoulder and or interior regions and stem in order to generate a control signal to initiate a process to de-stem the pepper. In particular, several implementations of the method are provided that may include a mechanical system, a laser system, a machine vision system, a combination of a machine vision system and the laser system, and other equivalent implementations. Additionally disclosed, are methods of processing whole peppers utilizing automated de-stemming.
BRASSICA GAT EVENT AND COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR THE IDENTIFICATION AND/OR DETECTION THEREOF
Compositions and methods related to transgenic glyphosate tolerant Brassica plants are provided. Specifically, the present invention provides Brassica plants having a DP-073496-4 event which imparts tolerance to glyphosate. The Brassica plant harboring the DP-073496-4 event at the recited chromosomal location comprises genomic/transgene junctions within SEQ ID NO: 2 or with genomic/transgene junctions as set forth in SEQ ID NO: 12 and/or 13. The characterization of the genomic insertion site of the event provides for an enhanced breeding efficiency and enables the use of molecular markers to track the transgene insert in the breeding populations and progeny thereof. Various methods and compositions for the identification, detection, and use of the event are provided.

Process for the controlled introduction of oil into food products
A process for the application of a predetermined amount of oil to food pieces comprises: (a) providing or receiving a plurality of cut or shaped food pieces; (b) applying an oil-water emulsion to the food pieces for a time sufficient to provide a predetermined amount of oil to the food pieces and so that the food pieces have an initial moisture level after applying the oil-water emulsion; and (c) reducing the initial moisture level, in the absence of frying in oil, to a moisture level of from about 0.2 to about 80% by weight to provide a cooked food product, comprising said predetermined amount of oil, wherein step (c) does not comprises frying the food pieces in hot oil.
FRUIT CHEW SUPPLEMENTS
The present specification provides fruit chew dietary supplements comprising proanthocyanidins. Also described are methods for producing the fruit chew supplements.
