Polysaccharide having innate immunity stimulating activity

A substance having innate immune stimulating activity is a polysaccharide, which contains 25 to 50 parts by mole of galacturonic acid, 15 to 50 parts by mole of galactose, 0 to 7 parts by mole of glucose, 0 to 30 parts by mole of arabinose, 0 to 6 parts by mole of xylose, and 3 to 15 parts by mole of rhamnose as constituent sugars. The polysaccharide has a polygalacturonic acid chain having α-1,4-linked galacturonic acid as a main chain. An innate immune stimulant can include the polysaccharide as an active component, which can be included in a food or drink.

USING MULTIPLE UV WAVELENGTHS TO IMPROVE THE COLOR AND SAFETY OF HARVESTED APPLES

Provided herein are methods relating to ultraviolet irradiation of apples to improve their color and safety. The methods allow harvesting apples at optimum maturity, without having to delay waiting for color. The methods result in a significant increase in red skin coloration and suppression of L. monocytogenes without impairing fruit quality attributes during commercial storage.

Compositions And Methods Of BDNF Activation
20210338762 · 2021-11-04 ·

Compositions and methods are presented that substantially increase levels of BDNF in blood, and even more pronouncedly exosomal BDNF levels. Suitable compositions include whole coffee fruit extracts and powders that are orally administered at relatively low dosages.

ALKYL ETHER AMINE FOAM CONTROL COMPOUNDS AND METHODS OF PROCESSING FOODSTUFFS
20210339171 · 2021-11-04 ·

Alkyl ether amines are used as foam control compounds in foodstuff processing. The alkyl ether amines can be used at various stages during industrial processing of vegetables, fruits, and plants, such as potatoes and beets. The alkyl ether amines are generally of lower molecular weights and therefore easily transported to the foam layer to break the foam structure. Further, the alkyl ether amines are water soluble and therefore can be readily removed from the food processing system.

PROFOOD ITEM AND PUFFED FOOD PRODUCT PREPARATIONS
20230320405 · 2023-10-12 · ·

A profood item for preparing a puffed food product and method for producing the profood item. Profood item shell comprises a first foodstuff, the shell characterized by a hardness and rigidity able to withstand breakage when subject to temperature/pressure below breakage threshold conditions. Profood item interior contained within shell comprises a second foodstuff comprising at least one starch and a liquid adapted to form a vapor when subjected to heating, where an increased pressure of the vapor when heated causes a rupturing of the shell when breakage threshold conditions reached, inducing a sudden release of vapor at high pressure resulting in puffing of starch to produce puffed food product. The profood item micropellet may be prepared using an extrusion process and coated with a coating process to form a shell.

SOLID FOOD PRODUCT COMPOSITION CONTAINING FOOD MATERIAL CONTAINING INSOLUBLE DIETARY FIBER, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A solid food composition which achieves both chewy texture and easiness in biting off is provided. A solid food composition includes a foodstuff containing insoluble dietary fibers. The solid food composition contains edible part and insoluble dietary fiber localized site of one or more foodstuffs containing insoluble dietary fibers. The content of the foodstuff is 5 to 95 mass %, insoluble dietary fiber content is equal or greater than 3 mass %, moisture content is less than 30 mass %, 50% integrated diameter of particle size in aqueous dispersion of the solid food composition after ultrasonication is more than 5 μm and 1,000 μm or less and an average of minimum differential value is equal or greater than −900 kN/m.sup.2%.

BRASSICA GAT EVENT AND COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR THE IDENTIFICATION AND/OR DETECTION THEREOF

Compositions and methods related to transgenic glyphosate tolerant Brassica plants are provided. Specifically, the present invention provides Brassica plants having a DP-073496-4 event which imparts tolerance to glyphosate. The Brassica plant harboring the DP-073496-4 event at the recited chromosomal location comprises genomic/transgene junctions within SEQ ID NO: 2 or with genomic/transgene junctions as set forth in SEQ ID NO: 12 and/or 13. The characterization of the genomic insertion site of the event provides for an enhanced breeding efficiency and enables the use of molecular markers to track the transgene insert in the breeding populations and progeny thereof. Various methods and compositions for the identification, detection, and use of the event are provided.
