The second guiding unit includes a first member made of metal and having a first guiding surface on which a leading end of a sheet is guided in a first section including an upstream end portion of the second feeding passage with respect to a sheet feeding direction, and includes a second member made of a resin material and having a second guiding surface on which the sheet is guided in a second section downstream of the first section in the second feeding passage with respect to the sheet feeding direction. The first guiding surface is spaced from a first phantom contact surface extending from an end portion of the first surface and contacting the second guiding surface.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device, a transport route, a purge transport route, an image forming transport route, a transport roller, and a blowing machine. The image forming device forms an image on a sheet. The transport route extends to a predetermined position. The purge transport route extends to a downstream side in a sheet transport direction, from the predetermined position. The image forming transport route is branched from the purge transport route at the predetermined position, and extends toward the image forming device. The transport roller transports the sheet along the transport route, and along one of the purge transport route and the image forming transport route. The blowing machine delivers the sheet to one of the purge transport route and the image forming transport route, by blowing air to the sheet being transported along the transport route.

A sheet conveying device includes a sheet conveying passage and a switching guide. The switching guide switches the sheet conveying passage between first and second sheet conveying passages. The switching guide includes a plurality of guide ribs and guide members. The plurality of guide ribs are disposed at intervals in the sheet width direction and extend in the sheet conveying direction. The guide members are fitted to specific guide ribs selected from the plurality of guide ribs. The plurality of guide ribs have first and second guide surfaces that guide the sheet. The guide members are formed of a material having higher slidability than the plurality of guide ribs, and have third guide surfaces that are disposed at positions protruding further to an inner side of the sheet conveying passage than the first or second guide surfaces.

The second duct is disposed at a second side of the sheet conveyance passage to face a second face of the sheet passing the sheet conveyance passage and has a second air blowing port through which air is blown toward the sheet conveyance passage. The switching member is disposed downstream from the first and second air blowing ports in a sheet conveyance direction and configured to switch the sheet conveyance passage. No pair of rollers is disposed between the switching member and each of the first and second blowing ports.

A conveying device includes a plurality of rotating bodies and a plurality of projecting rotators. The rotating bodies are spaced apart in a sheet conveyance direction in which a sheet is conveyed. The projecting rotators are spaced apart in the sheet conveyance direction on a side of an opposite face opposite a liquid applied face of the sheet. Each of the projecting rotator has a plurality of projections projecting radially outward. The rotating bodies are arranged to contact the projecting rotators. A contact pressure of the rotating bodies with the projecting rotators is smaller on an upstream side than on a downstream side in the sheet conveyance direction. One of an interval between the rotating bodies in the sheet conveyance direction and an interval between the projecting rotators in the sheet conveyance direction is smaller on the upstream side than on the downstream side in the sheet conveyance direction.
