An elevator car is constructed and arranged to move along a hoistway defined by a stationary structure. The elevator car includes a cabin and a component constructed and arranged to be in motion with respect to the cabin. A generator is carried by the cabin and is mechanically coupled to the component for driving the generator as the elevator car moves along the hoistway. An energy storage device of the elevator car is carried by the cabin and is configured to be charged by the generator. An electrical load of the elevator car is powered by at least one of the energy storage device and the generator.

ELEVATOR SYSTEM

An elevator system includes a car that ascends and descends a hoist way, a power feeding device installed at a specific power feeding point of the hoist way, a power receiving device that receives power from the power feeding device when the car stops at the power feeding point, a battery that is charged by the received power, and an elevator control panel that controls ascent and descent of the car. When the remaining capacity of the battery is equal to or less than a predetermined capacity, the elevator control panel performs a rescue operation of a passenger in the car, and after the rescue operation, performs an automatic search operation of searching for a power feeding point where the power feeding device is installed according to the remaining capacity of the battery.

An elevator includes a plurality of power transmission/reception devices each including: a power transmission coil connected to a main power supply; a power reception coil for receiving power transmitted from the power transmission coil and supplying power to a load; and an inverter which is provided between the main power supply and the power transmission coil, and which converts power supplied from the main power supply, to power having a predetermined frequency, and supplies the power to the power transmission coil, wherein the plurality of power transmission/reception devices are connected in parallel between the main power supply and the load. Since the inverters are individually connected to the power transmission coils, it is possible to efficiently supply power to the load even when using some of the power transmission coils.

A dynamic capacitive power transfer system for an elevator that can realize the real-time powering of the elevator when it is in the moving status. It includes a metal track along the building side as the power transmitter and a piece of metal at the elevator side as the power receiver. There is a gap between the transmitter and receiver, and up to kW power can be transferred wirelessly and efficiently to serve the air conditioner, lightning, and other electronic devices in the moving car. The steel wheels and ropes may be used to connect the moving car to the earth ground, which contributes to form the current returning loop. It eliminates the electric cables and the corresponding flexible cable carrier system for the linear movement.
