Elevator safety system

Provided is an elevator safety system including: a plurality of communication controllers configured to communicate, over a network, signals including a safety control signal; a control device connected to a first communication controller, which is one of the plurality of communication controllers, and configured to execute operation control of the elevator, in which each of the plurality of communication controllers includes an error ratio measurement instrument configured to measure an error ratio of the network, based on a bit error of data that is received over the network, and in which the control device is configured to execute the operation control by switching the operation state of the elevator in accordance with the error ratio measured by the error ratio measurement instrument that is included in the first communication controller.

ELEVATOR

An elevator and a method for testing an operating condition of two or more elevator car brakes are provided, each of the car brakes including an actuator to control the car brake and each of the car brakes mounted to elevator car and fitted to selectively engage against a guide rail of an elevator car to stop movement of an elevator car or to open to enable movement of an elevator car. The method includes an empty car is kept at a standstill by providing a driving force upwards with all the N movers mounted to the elevator car, and total current Lot of all N movers is determined. One of the car brakes is applied while the others are kept open. The driving current of each of the movers is gradually decreased, and movement of elevator car is observed. When movement of elevator car is detected, the driving current at the moment movement started is recorded, and the recorded current is compared to a reference value, and if the recorded current is higher than the reference value, safety measures with the elevator are performed.

ELEVATOR CAR CONTROL TO ADDRESS ABNORMAL PASSENGER BEHAVIOR

An illustrative example elevator system includes an elevator car, a machine that selectively causes movement of the elevator car, and a drive that controls the machine to control movement of the elevator car at an intended elevator car speed. The drive is configured to use information regarding operation of the machine to determine whether an abnormal passenger behavior (APB) condition exists that affects movement of the elevator car. The drive is configured to alter the elevator car speed when the APB condition exists.

ELEVATOR SAFETY SYSTEM

According to an aspect, a technique for operating an elevator safety system using pressure-sensitive detection includes detecting a presence in a safety zone of a first elevator of the elevator system, and activating a safety mode of the first elevator based at least in part on the determination. The technique also includes operating the first elevator in the safety mode, and transmitting data of the first elevator to a server.

ELEVATOR MACHINE BRAKE DELAY CONTROL

An illustrative elevator system includes an elevator car, a machine including a motor that provides a motive force for moving the elevator car along a travel path and a brake that resists movement of the elevator car, and a brake controller. The brake controller is configured to determine when the elevator car is within a selected range of at least one end of the travel path. The brake controller inhibits a delay in application of the brake when the elevator car is within the selected range and permits a delay in application of the brake when the elevator car is outside of the selected range.

AUTOMATED ELEVATOR MAINTENANCE MODE INITIATION

An illustrative example elevator system includes at least one elevator car that is moveable along a hoistway. An elevator controller is configured to respond to a communication from a portable device indicating a desire for the at least one elevator car to be placed in a maintenance mode and indicating a location of desired hoistway access. The controller automatically moves the elevator car to a determined positon based on the communication. That position corresponds to the location of the desired hoistway access. The controller performs at least one automated procedure to place the elevator car in the maintenance mode. The controller provides an indication to the portable device that the elevator car is in the determined position and that the automated procedure has been completed.

Group call management

In elevator journey prioritization often calls for larger groups are prioritized. This is often misused by placing elevator calls for larger groups that are actually travelling. This problem can be reduced by identifying the calling person when placing the call and again in the elevator. The number of people in the elevator can be estimated by using machine vision or weight-based approximation methods. When the number of passengers is not known the possible misuse can be suspected if a person places considerably more group calls as than average.

A method for testing operation of an elevator including an elevator car includes starting movement of the elevator car; and thereafter starting a stopping sequence for stopping movement of the elevator car; and monitoring movement of the elevator car, the monitoring preferably including monitoring acceleration of the elevator car; and detecting a predefined response in movement of the elevator car, the predefined response preferably being cease of acceleration of the elevator car; and determining time elapsed between the starting a stopping sequence and the detected predefined response in movement of the elevator car, wherein the response is preferably cease of acceleration, for thereby determining reaction time of the elevator; and comparing the time elapsed with at least one reference, such as with at least one predefined threshold. An elevator is provided for implementing the method.

In an elevator operation panel, a front part of a casing includes a frame body and a front surface plate. The frame body includes a first vertical frame and a second vertical frame. A fixing member is laid across the first vertical frame and the second vertical frame. A holding member for holding the front surface plate on the frame body is fixed to the fixing member. The holding member includes a holding portion that overlaps a vertical direction end portion of a front surface of the front surface plate, and a fastening portion that projects rearward from the holding portion and is screwed to the fixing member.
