A payload coupling apparatus is provided that includes a housing having an upper portion, a lower portion, and a side wall positioned between the upper and lower portions, an attachment point on the housing adapted for attachment to a first end of a tether, a slot in the housing that extends downwardly towards a center of the housing thereby forming a hook or lip on the lower portion of the housing beneath the slot, a plurality of holes in the upper portion of the housing; and a plurality of holes in the lower portion of the housing. A method of retracting a payload coupling apparatus during UAV flight is also provided.

Systems, methods, and devices for package delivery using unmanned aerial vehicles

Systems and methods are disclosed for package delivery using unmanned aerial vehicles. Example methods may include positioning a first component at a first elevation, and operatively connecting the first component to a winch; positioning a second component at a second elevation higher than the first elevation; and configuring cable of a lifting component to: operatively connect to the first component and the second component, connect to and disconnect from a vehicle, and lift the vehicle from the first component towards the second component using the winch.

Manhole Adjustment Ring Removal Assembly and Method
20210130145 · 2021-05-06 ·

A manhole adjustment ring removal assembly includes a frame. A pair of legs is pivotally coupled to the frame. Each of the legs has an upper end and a lower end and each end has one of a pair of thee plates attached thereto. The plates each have an outer edge extending outwardly away from a corresponding one of the legs. The outer edges taper to point and are extendable between an adjustment ring and a cone base. A drive assembly is mounted on the frame and is mechanically coupled to the legs. The drive assembly is actuated in a first direction moving the lower ends away from each other and in a second direction moving the lower ends toward each other. A lift ring is attached to the frame to be engaged with a cable to lift the frame when the plates are positioned under the adjustment ring.

LID AND STRAINER BASKET ASSEMBLY AND POOL SKIMMER INCORPORATING SAME
20210095489 · 2021-04-01 ·

A lid and strainer basket assembly for use in a recirculating system of a swimming pool installation including a swimming pool and a deck, the recirculating system having a skimmer device extending downwardly from an opening proximate to the deck and coupled to a pump for recirculating the water in the swimming pool, the lid and strainer basket assembly including a removable lid closing the opening, a strainer basket in the skimmer device for collecting debris from the water, and an assembly of straps coupling the removable lid to the strainer basket, the straps being both sufficiently flexible and slacked between the lid and the strainer basket to enable the lid to be removed from the opening and tipped to one side to enable visual inspection of the strainer basket in the skimmer device without interference from the straps and without disturbing the strainer basket.

Platform hoist with automatic emergency braking system

An modular lift system for hoisting objects along a track to a predetermined height. The lift system may include a limit switch, a carriage with an automatic emergency braking system, and a peak to engage the track, whereby the carriage rolls along the side rails of the track between the peak mounted to the top of the track and the bottom of the track. The carriage can be adjustable thereby permitting it to be adapted to various types and sizes of tracks. The automatic emergency braking system is adapted to prevent the uncontrolled descent of the carriage in the event of a cable or primary brake failure.

Chain and lever post puller systems
10927564 · 2021-02-23 ·

A chain and lever post puller system for pulling 2 inch by 4 inch stakes from the ground. The apparatus may also pull round posts or tee-posts with a minimum of effort and with no prior digging. The chain and lever post puller system is a first class lever, requires no heavy equipment or hydraulics, and is easily transportable by hand. The puller comprises a vertical column to which the pivot lever is removably connected via a hinge, which also forms the fulcrum for the pivot lever. A first end of a chain is attached opposite the handle to the end of the pivot lever, and a self-tightening post grip is attached to the second end of the chain. A downward force is applied to the proximate end of the pivot lever when the post grip is attached to a stake to remove the stake via mechanical advantage.

Load placement system

A load placement system precisely places slung loads by allowing a helicopter pilot to essentially reel the load to the ground. The placement system uses lead lines on the slung load that can be connected to the ground by support personnel. A winch system is connected to the lead lines and guides the load to an intended location. The placement system eliminates at least some of the ground personnel previously needed for pulling the load to a target location and orientation. The placement system may eliminate substantially all ground personnel by using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to automatically connect the lead lines to the ground. The UAVs also may actively control the slung load while in flight to reduce pilot workload and enable higher transport speeds.
