Active response seating system
09675179 · 2017-06-13 · ·

Novel Seats having a plurality of defined zones for supporting the human anatomy are disclosed. Seats including one or more recoil shields and/or inserts to assist in supporting or isolating certain desired portions of the human anatomy, as well as seats including both seat back structures and seat pan structures, with one or both including zoned configurations designed to support and stabilize specific structures of the human anatomy in a defined manner are also disclosed. The novel seats are useful, inter alia, for individually supporting certain anatomical areas and provide seat zones that collectively support, cradle and permit the human anatomy to be supported in a comfortable manner.

Movable computer wrist support with magnetic levitation
09655440 · 2017-05-23 ·

A moveable device for elevating and enabling natural motion of the hand or wrist of an individual when the individual is using a computer input device is disclosed. The device includes a base member, a wrist support member, and magnets for levitating the wrist support member a distance above the base member when the wrist support is positioned above the base member.

Arm support apparatus

In arm support apparatus, a longitudinal mount has opposing first and second ends. An elbow locator is provided on the first end of the mount. The elbow locator locates an operator's elbow when the operator's forearm is mounted on the mount. A rotary joint of a multijoint arm has a rotary axis having a vertical component. The mount is rotatably joined to the rotary joint. While the forearm is mounted on the mount so that the elbow of the operator's arm is located by the elbow locator, the rotary axis is located with a distance with respect to the elbow to enable both the first and second ends of the mount to swing about the rotary axis. The distance is set to be equal to or longer than 50 mm.

Breathable gel

Cushioning elements include a breathable material configured to allow gases to pass through at least a portion thereof, and a plurality of discrete segments of thermoplastic elastomeric gel (gel) heat-fused or otherwise attached to the breathable material. The gel comprises an elastomeric polymer and a plasticizer, with a plasticizer-to-polymer ratio of from about 0.3 to about 50. The plurality of discrete segments defines at least one breathable gap between adjacent discrete segments. Methods of forming cushioning elements include forming a plurality of discrete segments of gel, securing each segment to a breathable material, and providing a gas path through the breathable material and between adjacent segments. Another method includes providing molten gel within a mold, providing at least a second portion of the gel within a permeable material, and solidifying the gel to form discrete segments of gel.

A spacer includes: projections each of which has a frame; multiple standing portions each of which has one end connected to the frame and that stand on the frame; and a standing-end connector that connects other ends of the standing portions, the frames being disposed close to each other such that the projections are connected; and flexible connectors that connect the frames. The projections have a three-dimensional shape. The flexible connectors are elastically deformable. At least either the projections or the flexible connectors have different shapes depending on a part of the spacer.
