Compositions and methods for fractal assembly of micron-scale nucleic acid structures
Compositions and methods of the present disclosure provide for staged assembly of nucleic acid microstructures made of an array of x number of polynucleotide tiles, where each of the polynucleotide tiles is a polygon configuration and is made from a single-stranded helical polynucleotide scaffold and a plurality of single-stranded polynucleotide staple strands of y number of unique staple sequences corresponding to the selected tile configuration, the y number of unique staple sequences capable of being constant for any value of x.
Method to reduce pore diameter using atomic layer deposition and etching
Methods are provided for manufacturing well-controlled, solid-state nanopores and arrays of well-controlled, solid-state nanopores by a cyclic process including atomic layer deposition (ALD), or chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and etching. One or more features are formed in a thin film deposited on a topside of a substrate. A dielectric material is deposited over the substrate having the one or more features in the thin film. An etching process is then used to etch a portion of the dielectric material deposited over the substrate having the one or more features in the thin film. The dielectric material deposition and etching processes are optionally repeated to reduce the size of the features until a well-controlled nanopore is formed through the thin film on the substrate.
Quantum dot, light emitting material and manufacturing method of quantum dot comprising thermal treatment of solution containing formed quantum dot
A quantum dot, a light emitting material, and a manufacturing method of quantum dot are provided. A ratio of an emission intensity to an absorption intensity of the quantum dot at a characteristic wavelength ranges from 1.5×10.sup.8 CPS/Abs. to 2.0×10.sup.9 CPS/Abs. The characteristic wavelength is a shorter wavelength of two wavelengths corresponding to half of a maximum intensity of an emission peak of the quantum dot.
Inline spectroscopy for monitoring chemical vapor deposition processes
A method for making nanomaterials includes introducing into a catalyzed reactor vessel: a carrier gas at a first carrier gas feed rate; at least one carbon-based reactant at a first reactant feed rate; and optionally, at least one additive at a first additive feed rate. The reactor vessel is heated to a first temperature of at least 150 C., so that a portion of the carbon-based reactant within the reactor vessel reacts to form a plurality of nanomaterials. An exhaust gas is removed from the reactor and periodically sampled by exposing a paper web to the gas so that a sample of the nanomaterials from the gas are deposited on a region of the paper web for analysis. Based on this analysis, at least one reaction parameter selected from the group consisting of the first carrier gas feed rate, the first reactant feed rate, and first temperature may be adjusted.
Method for obtaining semiconducting carbon nanotube
A method for obtaining semiconducting carbon nanotubes is provided. An insulating substrate comprising hollow portions and non-hollow portions is provided. A plurality of electrodes is formed on a surface of the non-hollow portions. A plurality of carbon nanotubes is formed on a surface of the insulating substrate, and the carbon nanotubes stretches across the hollow portions. The insulating substrate, the plurality of electrodes, and the carbon nanotubes are placed into a cavity, and the cavity is evacuated. A voltage is applied between any two electrodes, and photos of carbon nanotubes suspended between the two electrodes are taken. In the photo, darker ones are the semiconducting carbon nanotubes, and brighter ones are metallic carbon nanotubes. Finally, the metallic carbon nanotubes are removed.
Methods for charge-titrating assembly of partially metallized nanoparticles, and metamaterials produced therefrom
Variations provide a metamaterial comprising a plurality of metamaterial repeat units containing a surface-patterned nanoparticle or microparticle that is coated with a metal in a surface pattern. The surface-patterned particle may include a dielectric material or a semiconductor material partially or fully coated with metal(s). In some embodiments, the surface-patterned particles are split ring resonators. Some variations provide a method of making a metamaterial, the method comprising: metallizing surfaces of particles, wherein particles are coated with metal(s) in a surface pattern; dispersing surface-patterned particles in a liquid solution at a starting pH; introducing a triggerable pH-control substance capable of generating an acid or base; and triggering the pH-control substance to generate an acid or base, thereby adjusting the solution pH to a titrated pH. The zeta potential is closer to zero at the titrated pH compared to the starting pH, causing the surface-patterned particles to assemble into a metamaterial.
