TRUNCATED NONLINEAR INTERFEROMETER-BASED SENSOR SYSTEM
A truncated non-linear interferometer-based sensor system includes an input port that receives an optical beam and a non-linear amplifier that amplifies the optical beam with a pump beam and renders a probe beam and a conjugate beam. The system’s local oscillators have a relationship with the respective beams. The system includes a sensor that transduces an input with the probe beam and the conjugate beam or their respective local oscillators. It includes one or more phase-sensitive detectors that detect a phase modulation between the respective local oscillators and the probe beam and the conjugate beam. Output from the phase-sensitive-detectors is based on the detected phase modulation. The phase-sensor-detectors include measurement circuitry that measure the phase signals. The measurement is the sum or difference of the phase signals in which the measured combination exhibit a quantum noise reduction in an intensity difference or a phase sum or an amplitude difference quadrature.

SULFURIZED CARBON CATHODES
Alkali metal-sulfur cells and batteries with cathode layers that store alkali metal charge carriers (e.g., lithium ions) in agglomerates of sulfurized carbon. The cathode layers lack costly and environmentally unfriendly nickel and cobalt. The cathode layers are composites that include agglomerates of sulfurized-carbon particles in a conductive binder and interconnected by sp.sup.2-bonded carbon materials, such as carbon nanotubes or nanoribbons, that extend within the agglomerates and between the sulfurized-carbon particles.
Field of view expanding system
This document relates to an optical device using waveguide that can enable propagation of large field of view images by use of metasurfaces, without the necessity of increasing the reflective index associated with the waveguide. An optical assembly can generate a compressed image corresponding to a wide field of view in order to ensure that the image can propagate through the waveguide according to TIR limits of the waveguide. The compressed image can be provided to a standard grating in-coupler, and can then be expanded by a metasurface out-coupler of the optical device to reproduce the wide field of view.
Field of view expanding system
This document relates to an optical device using waveguide that can enable propagation of large field of view images by use of metasurfaces, without the necessity of increasing the reflective index associated with the waveguide. An optical assembly can generate a compressed image corresponding to a wide field of view in order to ensure that the image can propagate through the waveguide according to TIR limits of the waveguide. The compressed image can be provided to a standard grating in-coupler, and can then be expanded by a metasurface out-coupler of the optical device to reproduce the wide field of view.

AFM imaging with real time drift correction
A system and method of operating an atomic force microscope (AFM) that includes providing relative scanning motion between a probe of the AFM and a sample in a slow scan direction of a data scan to generate a reference image (plane) of a region of interest. Then, relative scanning motion between the probe and the sample is provided in a fast scan direction of a final data scan to generate a data image. By mapping the data image against the reference image in real-time during the supplying step, the preferred embodiments generate a final drift corrected data image without post-image acquisition processing.
AFM imaging with real time drift correction
A system and method of operating an atomic force microscope (AFM) that includes providing relative scanning motion between a probe of the AFM and a sample in a slow scan direction of a data scan to generate a reference image (plane) of a region of interest. Then, relative scanning motion between the probe and the sample is provided in a fast scan direction of a final data scan to generate a data image.
