Powdered titanium oxide, method for the production thereof, and use thereof
A powdered catalyst material on a titanium oxide basis. The powdered catalyst material includes a combined content of at least 90 wt.-% of a hydrated titanium oxide having the general formula TiO.sub.(2-x)(OH).sub.2x, with 0<x≤1, (calculated as TiO.sub.2), and a silicon dioxide and hydrated precursors of the silicon dioxide (calculated as SiO.sub.2). A weight ratio of TiO.sub.2/SiO.sub.2, determined for TiO.sub.2 and SiO.sub.2 respectively, is at least 3 and less than 30. The wt.-% is based on a total weight of the catalyst material after the catalyst material has been dried at 105° C. for at least 2 hours. The powdered catalyst material has a specific surface area of >300 m.sup.2/g and an isoelectric point of from 4.0 to 7.0.
Transition metal support for catalyst electrode and method of manufacturing same
The present invention relates to a transition metal nitride support, a method of manufacturing the same, a metal catalyst and a platinum-alloy catalyst including the transition metal nitride support, and manufacturing methods thereof. The manufactured transition metal support prevents corrosion of the support and aggregation of the platinum catalyst, thereby exhibiting high oxygen reduction catalytic activity. Also, strong metal-support interaction (SMSI) can be stabilized, thus improving the durability of the catalyst. The transition metal support includes large pores uniformly distributed therein, thereby increasing the amount of the catalyst supported and minimizing mass-transfer resistance in a membrane- electrode assembly, increasing the performance of a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell. The metal catalyst includes platinum particles loaded on the transition metal nitride support, thus exhibiting superior durability and activity. The manufactured platinum-alloy catalyst decreases the use of expensive platinum, thus generating economic benefits and improving the inherent oxygen reduction performance.

The present invention relates to a transition metal nitride support, a method of manufacturing the same, a metal catalyst and a platinum-alloy catalyst including the transition metal nitride support, and manufacturing methods thereof. Microwave assisted and low-temperature fabrication of nanowire arrays on scalable 2D and 3D substrates
A method of making a titanium dioxide nanowire array includes contacting a substrate with a solvent comprising a titanium (III) precursor, an acid, and an oxidant while microwave heating the solvent, thereby forming a hydrogen titanate H2Ti2O5.H2O nanowire array. The hydrogen titanate nanowire array is annealed to form a titanium dioxide nanowire array. The substrate is seeded with titanium dioxide before starting the hydrothermal synthesis of the hydrogen titanate nanowire array. The titanium dioxide nanowire array is loaded with a platinum group metal to form an exhaust gas catalyst. The titanium dioxide nanowire array can be used to catalyze oxidation of combustion exhaust.
THIN FILM STRUCTURE INCLUDING DIELECTRIC MATERIAL LAYER AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME
A thin film structure including a dielectric material layer and an electronic device to which the thin film structure is applied are provided. The dielectric material layer includes a compound expressed by ABO.sub.3, wherein at least one of A and B in ABO.sub.3 is substituted and doped with another atom having a larger atom radius, and ABO.sub.3 becomes A.sub.1-xA′.sub.xB.sub.1-yB′.sub.yO.sub.3 (where x>=0, y>=0, at least one of x and y≠0, a dopant A′ has an atom radius greater than A and/or a dopant B′ has an atom radius greater than B) through substitution and doping. A dielectric material property of the dielectric material layer varies according to a type of a substituted and doped dopant and a substitution doping concentration.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING PARTICLES AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING PARTICLES
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for producing particles and an apparatus for producing particles, wherein fine particles can be more conveniently obtained compared to conventional top-down methods for generating fine particles, and spherical fine particles can be obtained like bottom-up methods for generating fine particles. An aspect of the present invention pertains to a method for producing particles, the method comprising: a step for mixing a substance containing a metal and/or a semi-metal with an explosive; a step for burning the explosive to cause a combustion reaction of the substance; and a step for capturing particles in a combustion gas obtained in the combustion reaction step.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING DENSE LAYERS THAT CAN BE USED AS ELECTRODES AND/OR ELECTROLYTES FOR LITHIUM ION BATTERIES, AND LITHIUM ION MICROBATTERIES OBTAINED IN THIS WAY
A method for manufacturing a dense layer that includes: supplying a substrate and a suspension of non-agglomerated nanoparticles of a material P; depositing a layer on the substrate using the suspension; drying the layer thus obtained; and densifying the dried layer by mechanical compression and/or heat treatment. The method is characterised in that the suspension of non-agglomerated nanoparticles of material P includes nanoparticles of material P having a size distribution having a value of D50. The distribution includes nanoparticles of material P of a first size D1 between 20 nm and 50 nm, and nanoparticles of material P of a second size D2 characterised by the value D50 being at least five times less than that of D1, or the distribution has a mean size of nanoparticles of material P less than 50 nm, and a standard deviation to mean size ratio greater than 0.6.
Semiconductor nanocrystal particles and production methods thereof
A semiconductor nanocrystal particle including a transition metal chalcogenide represented by Chemical Formula 1, the semiconductor nanocrystal particle having a size of less than or equal to about 100 nanometers, and a method of producing the same:
M.sup.1M.sup.2Cha.sub.3 Chemical Formula 1 wherein M.sup.1 is Ca, Sr, Ba, or a combination thereof, M.sup.2 is Ti, Zr, Hf, or a combination thereof, and Cha is S, Se, Te, or a combination thereof.

Provided is a friction modifier giving excellent formability in producing a friction material and capable of reducing rust formation on a rotor even when the moisture-absorbed friction material is left pressed against the rotor for a long. The friction modifier is made of a titanate compound having a tunnel crystal structure, wherein the titanate compound has a rate of chlorine ion dissolution of 0.5 ppm to 400 ppm.
CERAMIC POWDERS WITH CONTROLLED SIZE DISTRIBUTION
Disclosed herein are methods for preparing a titanate compound powder comprising titanate compound particles having a controlled particle size and/or particle size distribution. The methods include mixing at least one first inorganic compound chosen from sources of a first metal or metal oxide, at least one second inorganic compound chosen from sources of titania, and at least one binder to form a mixture; calcining the mixture to form a polycrystalline material comprising a plurality of titanate compound grains and a plurality of micro-cracks; and breaking the polycrystalline material along at least a portion of the microcracks. Also disclosed are titanate compound powders having a controlled particle size distribution, ceramic batch compositions comprising the powders, and ceramic articles prepared from the batch compositions.
