System for and method of mixed-color cullet characterization and certification, and providing contaminant-free, uniformly colored mixed-color cullet

Methods of creating a batch of recycled glass from mixed color glass cullet. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving at a glass plant a weight and color composition percentage of a first batch of mixed color cullet. The glass plant also receives a weight and color composition percentage of a second batch of mixed color cullet. The weight and color composition percentage of the first batch and the second batch are combined to generate a combined weight and composition percentage. The combined weight and composition are percentage are used to generate, automatically at a glass plant, a formulation to produce glass of a desired color.

COATED GLASS SHEET AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
20180050956 · 2018-02-22 ·

The coated glass sheet of the present invention includes: a glass sheet; and a coating film provided on at least one principal surface of the glass sheet and having a smooth surface. The coating film includes: isolated closed pores present within the coating film; and a matrix. The coating film is substantially free of open pores open at the surface of the coating film. For the coated glass sheet of the present invention, a transmittance gain is 2.5% or more, the transmittance gain being calculated by subtracting an average transmittance of the glass sheet as determined by applying light having wavelengths of 380 to 1100 nm to the glass sheet in the absence of the coating film on the surface of the glass sheet from an average transmittance of the coated glass sheet as determined by applying light having the wavelengths to the coated glass sheet from a side on which the coating film lies.

Glass precursor gel

A glass precursor gel and a method of making a glass product from the glass precursor gel are disclosed. The glass precursor gel includes a bulk amorphous oxide-based matrix that is homogeneously chemically mixed and includes 30 mol % to 90 wt. % silica and at least one of the following: (A) 0.1 mol % to 25 mol % of one or more alkali oxides in sum total, (B) 0.1 mol % to 25 mol % of one or more alkaline earth oxides in sum total, (C) 1 mol % to 20 mol % boric oxide, (D) 5 mol % to 80 mol % lead oxide, or (E) 0.1 mol % to 10 mol % aluminum oxide. A method of making a glass product from the glass precursor gel involves obtaining the glass precursor gel, melting the glass precursor gel into molten glass, and forming the molten glass into a glass product.

Water solvated glass/amorphous solid ionic conductors

The disclosure provides a water-solvated glass/amorphous solid that is an ionic conductor-an electronic insulator, and a dielectric as well as electrochemical devices and processes that use this material, such as batteries, including rechargeable batteries, fuel cells, capacitors, electrolysis cells, and electronic devices. The electrochemical devices and products use a combination of ionic and electronic conduction as well as internal electric dipoles.

COLORED COMPOSITE PAVEMENT STRUCTURE
20180030238 · 2018-02-01 ·

A process for making a colored composite pavement structure comprising silylated glass aggregate particles and a polymeric binder composition is disclosed. Systems and methods are also disclosed for providing a colored composite material that cures into a pavement structure. In one embodiment, a colorant concentrate is provided by combining an inorganic colorant with a portion of a first component of a polymeric binder composition. The colorant concentrate can then be combined with the first and second components of the polymeric binder composition to provide a colored polymeric binder composition. The colored polymeric binder composition may then be applied to silylated glass aggregate particles to provide a colored composite material that cures into a pavement structure.

SILICATE GLASSES HAVING LOW SEED CONCENTRATION
20180029922 · 2018-02-01 ·

A fining agent for reducing the concentration of seeds or bubbles in a silicate glass. The fining agent includes at least one inorganic compound, such as a hydrate or a hydroxide that acts as a source of water. In one embodiment, the fining agent further includes at least one multivalent metal oxide and, optionally, an oxidizer. A fusion formable and ion exchangeable silicate glass having a seed concentration of less than about 1 seed/cm.sup.3 is also provided. Methods of reducing the seed concentration of a silicate glass, and a method of making a silicate glass having a seed concentration of less than about 1 seed/cm.sup.3 are also described.
