FEED-THROUGH COMPONENT

A feed-through component for a conductor feed-through which passes through a part of a housing, for example a battery housing, is embedded in a glass or glass ceramic material and has at least one conductor, for example an essentially pin-shaped conductor, and a head part. The surface, in particular the cross-sectional surface, of the head part is greater than the surface, in particular the cross-sectional surface, of the conductor, for example of the essentially pin-shaped conductor. The head part is embodied such that is can be joined to an electrode-connecting component, for example an electrode-connecting part, which may be made of copper, a copper alloy CuSiC, an aluminum alloy AlSiC or aluminum, with a mechanically stable and non-detachable connection.

MOLDING COMPOSITE AND METHOD OF MAKING MOLDED PART

A molding composite includes mica flakes and a eutectic glaze. The composite allows making of lead-free parts for use in a variety of situations, such as electrical insulators for supporting electrically-conductive parts, such as electrodes, for electrical devices. The molded composite material can be used mold around such electrically-conductive parts, supporting them and/or providing hermetic seals around the parts. Other possible uses include substrates for electronic circuits, and housings for parts, such as electro-optical parts. The molding composite is heated under elevated pressure to liquefy the eutectic glaze, causing it to coat the mica flakes. After the composite is put into a desired shape it is solidify, for example by compressing the molding composite at a constant temperature until the eutectic glaze solidifies, followed by cooling of the molding composite.

Laminated glazing

A laminated glazing comprising a first ply of glazing material and a second ply of glazing material joined by at least one ply of adhesive interlayer material is disclosed. The first ply of glazing material comprises a sheet of glass having a first composition and the second ply of glazing material comprises a sheet of glass having a second composition different to the first composition. The laminated glazing has (i) a peripheral region extending around the periphery of the laminated glazing, the laminated glazing having a surface compression stress in the peripheral region and (ii) an edge compression, wherein the magnitude of edge compression is greater than the magnitude of the surface compression stress in the peripheral region. A method of making such a laminated is provided. A glass sheet suitable for being incorporated in such a laminated glazing is also disclosed.
