Quartz glass component of high thermal stability, semifinished product therefor, and method for producing the same
In a known method for producing a quartz glass component, a crystal formation layer containing a crystallization promoter is produced on a coating surface of a base body of quartz glass. Starting therefrom, to provide a method for producing a quartz glass component of improved thermal strength and long-term stability which displays a comparatively small deformation particularly also in the case of rapid heating-up processes, it is suggested according to one aspect that a porous crystal formation layer containing amorphous SiO.sub.2 particles is produced with a mean thickness in the range of 0.1 to 5 mm, and that a substance which contains cesium and/or rubidium is used as the crystallization promoter.
Coated glasses with high effective fracture toughness
Glass-based articles comprise high effective fracture toughness. Glass-based articles comprise: a glass-based substrate comprising opposing first and second surfaces defining a substrate thickness (t.sub.s), a substantially planar central portion, and a perimeter portion; a polymer coating disposed on at least a portion of at least one of the first or the second surfaces; and an effective fracture toughness that is greater than or equal to 1.25 MPa.Math.m.sup.0.5 as measured at room temperature.
Article with a Hydrophilic Surface Coated with a Temporary Super-Hydrophobic Film and Process for Obtaining Same
The present invention relates to an article having a surface coated with a nanostructured temporary super-hydrophobic film having a static contact angle with water of at least 140°, and comprising nanoparticles functionalized with a hydrophobic agent, wherein the functionalization of the nanoparticles with the hydrophobic agent has been performed before said nanostructured temporary super-hydrophobic film is coated on said surface. The surface of the article exhibits a static contact angle with water of less than 60° before being coated with the nanostructured temporary super-hydrophobic film. The treatment according to the invention can be used to provide an antirain function to optical articles having a hydrophilic surface.
CLOTHING CARE APPARATUS AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
A clothing care apparatus comprises: a body including a clothing care room; and a door rotatably coupled to the body and including a control panel formed at the front surface thereof, wherein the control panel comprises: glass; a coating layer provided on the glass while having an aperture; a first print layer laminated on the coating layer and having a shape corresponding to the coating layer; and a second print layer laminated on the first print layer and provided adjacent to the glass.

Disclosed herein are delamination resistant glass pharmaceutical containers which may include a glass body having a Class HGA1 hydrolytic resistance when tested according to the ISO 720:1985 testing standard. The glass body may have an interior surface and an exterior surface. The interior surface of the glass body does not comprise a boron-rich layer when the glass body is in an as-formed condition. A heat-tolerant coating may be bonded to at least a portion of the exterior surface of the glass body. The heat-tolerant coating may have a coefficient of friction of less than about 0.7 and is thermally stable at a temperature of at least 250° C. for 30 minutes.
Cold-formed glass article and assembly process thereof
Embodiments of an article comprising a cold-formed glass substrate in a curved shape, a plurality of separate mechanical retainers, and a frame are disclosed. The cold-formed glass substrate has a first major surface, and a second major surface opposing the first major surface. In one more embodiments, the plurality of separate mechanical retainers are attached to the second major surface of the cold-formed glass substrate. The mechanical retainers may be attached to the frame to define a position for each of the plurality of mechanical retainers, such that the mechanical retainers define the curved shape. Embodiments of processes to form such articles are also provided. Such processes can include attaching a plurality of separate mechanical retainers to a flexible glass substrate such that the glass substrate maintains its flexibility, and attaching the mechanical retainers to a frame, such that the mechanical retainers attached to the frame define a cold-formed curved shape for the flexible glass substrate.
Coloured glazing and method for obtaining same
A glazing includes a glass substrate on which is deposited a coating including at least one layer, the layer being formed from a material including metal nanoparticles dispersed in an inorganic matrix of an oxide, in which the metal nanoparticles are made of a metal chosen from the group formed by silver, gold, platinum, copper and nickel or of an alloy formed from at least two of these metals, in which the matrix including an oxide of at least one element chosen from the group of titanium, silicon and zirconium and in which the atomic ratio M/Me in the material is less than 1.5, M representing all atoms of the elements of the group of titanium, silicon and zirconium present in the layer and Me representing all of the atoms of the metals of the group formed by silver, gold, platinum, copper and nickel present in the layer.
OPTICAL MATERIAL, OPTICAL PRODUCT, AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
An optical material for making an optical product is provided. The optical material includes a light-resistant material undergone surface modification by titanium dioxide, so that the optical product is at least resistant to light having a wavelength between 280 nm and 380 nm. The optical product and a manufacturing method thereof are also provided.
Thermochromic compositions, thermochromic substrates, and related methods of making
Vanadium oxide nanomaterials dispersed in a polymeric matrix, substrates including the vanadium oxide nanomaterials dispersed in a polymeric matrix, and related methods of making vanadium oxide nanomaterials dispersed in a polymeric matrix are described.
Outer wall material and method for manufacturing same
An outer wall material includes a first transparent member integrally or separately including a transparent plate material and a prism portion; and a reflection member provided on a second side of the prism portion of the first transparent member. The prism portion causes the reflection member to collect light whose angle with respect to a normal line of the plate material is equal to or greater than a predetermined angle and to retro-reflect the collected light, and transmits light whose angle with respect to the normal line of the plate material is less than the predetermined angle.
