CATALYST MANUFACTURING METHOD
A method for producing a catalyst or catalyst precursor is described including: applying a slurry of a particulate catalyst compound in a carrier fluid to an additive layer manufactured support structure to form a slurry-impregnated support, and drying and optionally calcining the slurry-impregnated support to form a catalyst or catalyst precursor. The mean particle size (D50) of the particulate catalyst compound in the slurry is in the range 1-50 μm and the support structure has a porosity ≧0.02 ml/g.
COMPOSITION FOR 3D PRINTING CERAMIC AND/OR METALLIC SHAPED BODIES
A composition suitable for 3D printing. The composition is in the form of a filament and includes: a) a metal and/or ceramic powder: b) an organic binding phase including two parts: b1) at least one thermoplastic compound selected from thermoplastic polymers and waxes; and b2) at least one volatile organic compound which has a vapor pressure at 50° C., ranging from more than 0 bar to 0.05 bar, wherein the amount of the at least one volatile organic compound ranges from more than 0.5% to 40% (v/v) by volume relative to the total volume of the composition.
Post deposition heat treatment of bond coat and additional layers on ceramic or CMC substrate
In one example, a method for forming a coating system including a bond coat and an environmental barrier coating on a ceramic or CMC substrate, e.g., with an abradable coating on the environmental barrier coating. The method may include depositing a bond coat on a ceramic or ceramic matrix composite (CMC) substrate to form an as-deposited bond coat; heat treating the as-deposited bond coat following the deposition of the as-deposited bond coat on the substrate to form a heat treated bond coat; depositing an environment barrier coating (EBC) layer on the heat treated bond coat to form as deposited EBC layer; and heat treating the as-deposited EBC layer to form a heat treated EBC layer.

Method for making a honeycomb structure comprising coating a honeycomb body with cement skin layers
Disclosed is a ceramic honeycomb structure comprising a honeycomb body and a multilayered outer layer formed of a thick core layer applied and rapidly dried and a thin clad layer dried more gently to form a crack free dual skin layer. The core layer may have properties that are closer to those of the ceramic honeycomb body in service than the clad layer that may provide a tough outer shell to withstand handling and assembly.

Thin film capacitor
A thin film capacitor comprises a base material, a dielectric layer provided on the base material, and an upper electrode layer provided on the dielectric layer. The dielectric layer includes a plurality of columnar crystals that extend along a normal direction with respect to a surface of the upper electrode layer. The columnar crystal has a perovskite crystal structure represented by A.sub.yBO.sub.3. An element A is at least one of Ba, Ca, Sr, and Pb, and an element B is at least one of Ti, Zr, Sn, and Hf. Further, y≦0.995 is satisfied, and the dielectric layer contains 0.05 to 2.5 mol of Mg per 100 mol of A.sub.yBO.sub.3.
METHOD FOR POST-PROCESSING COLORED ZIRCONIUM OXIDE CERAMIC
A method for post-processing a colored zirconium oxide ceramic, the method comprising: putting the colored zirconium oxide ceramic along with a deoxidant into a heating device, conducting a firing process at a preset temperature, and a colorant containing Pr.sup.3+ is used for the coloring, and the deoxidant is excessive with respect to a stoichiometric amount of oxygen in the heating device. The technical solution can completely replace Pe.sup.3+ with Pr.sup.3+ to color the zirconium oxide ceramic yellow.
