Polymer coated fertilizer

A controlled release fertilizer has been prepared comprising a nutrient core coated with one or more moisture barrier coatings, at least one of said moisture barrier coatings comprising: at least one polyethylene wax; and a thermoset polyurethane from the reaction of a polyol and a polyisocyanate. The weight ratio of thermoset polyurethane to polyethylene wax is from about 50:50 to about 98:2. The polyethylene wax is heated above the melt point of the polyethylene wax and mixed and dispersed into the polyol component of the thermoset polyurethane in a ratio of 90-70% polyol to 10-30% polyethylene wax before the thermoset polyurethane-forming mixture is applied to the surface of the nutrient core and cured. A coating of a high temperature microcrystalline wax can be applied prior to final curing of the thermoset polyurethane to the coated nutrient core particles.

Method for producing biochar aggregate particles

A method for producing biochar aggregate particles that comprising the steps of (i) collecting or producing treated biochar fines less than 1 mm, (ii) adding a binding agent to the fines, (iii) forming the fines and binding agent into solid aggregate particles. The steps may further include, for example, adding additives to the fines, drying the solid aggregate particles, activing the binder after forming the solid aggregate particles with heat or cold temperatures and/or treating the biochar fines prior to forming the aggregate particles.

Biochars, biochar extracts and biochar extracts having soluble signaling compounds and method for capturing material extracted from biochar

A method for capturing material extracted from biochar is provided comprising the steps of: (i) providing a biochar; (ii) contacting the biochar with an extraction media, where the extraction media causes the removal of residual compounds from the pores and surface of the biochar, creating a resulting extract comprised of the extraction media and removed compounds; and (iii) collecting the resulting extract. The method also can include other steps of extraction and purification. The method further comprises the step of applying the resulting extract to seeds, plants, soil, other agricultural products, or for use in other applications. A biochar having high levels of soluble signaling compounds is also provided, where the biochar is derived from a biomass source that together with predefined pyrolysis parameters produces resulting biochar having increased levels of soluble signaling compounds that are known to increase seed germination rates and early plant growth.

System and method for production of granular ammonium sulfate

A system for the production of ammonium sulfate granules including a pipe cross reactor (PCR) configured to contact concentrated sulfuric acid with anhydrous ammonia to produce a PCR product comprising ammonium sulfate; and a granulator fluidly connected to the PCR, whereby PCR product extracted from the PCR can be introduced into the granulator, an inlet for ammonium sulfate seed material, an ammonia sparger configured to spray liquid anhydrous ammonia onto a bed of ammonium sulfate granules within the granulator, and a granulator product outlet configured for extraction of granulator product comprising ammonium sulfate granules from the granulator. A method of producing ammonium sulfate granules is also provided.

NPK-SI-HUMATE FERTILIZER, METHOD FOR PRODUCTION AND USE THEREOF

A combined organomineral NPKSi-humate fertilizer having at least one particulate mineral NPK fertilizer is provided, which has at least one nutrient compound of nitrogen, phosphorous or potassium; and a particulate humic substance based silicon fertilizer, having chelates of monosilicic acid-humate compounds. The application also relates to a method of production of the combined organomineral NPKSi-humate fertilizer.
