A method of producing DEMN eutectic comprises reacting a reactant mixture comprising ethylenediamine and diethylenetriamine with aqueous nitric acid to form a reaction mixture comprising diethylentriamine trinitrate and ethylenediamine dinitrate. The reaction mixture is combined with methylnitroguanidine and nitroguanidine to form an aqueous slurry. Water is removed from the aqueous slurry. A method of producing an energetic composition, and a system for producing DEMN eutectic are also described.

GAS GENERATING COMPOSITION
Provided is a gas generating agent with a low combustion temperature and good ignition ability. The gas generating agent includes: (a) a fuel; (b) an oxidizing agent including a basic metal nitrate; (c) a basic metal carbonate; and (d) a binder (not including a component selected from starch, etherified starch, methyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl methyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, guar gum, etherified guar gum, tamarind gum, poly(vinyl alcohol), polyvinyl ether, polyacrylamide, polyethylene oxide, and polyvinyl pyrrolidone). The fuel of the component (a) includes melamine cyanurate (MC) and nitroguanidine (NQ), with MC/NQ (ratio of contents) of being within a range of 0.20 to 1.50.

A tool (1), for example, a tool for use downhole in a tubular oil or gas well, and a method of deploying and operating the tool (1), are disclosed herein. The tool (1) includes a generally cylindrical body (4), which includes a chamber (6). A fuel source (8) is also included. The fuel source (8) is a pressurised fuel and oxidant mixture (9) which is released into the chamber by an injector device through injector nozzles (16). The fuel and oxidant mixture (9) is ignited to form a combustion jet (20). The combustion jet (20) exits the nozzle outlet (28) as directed combustion jets, which perforate the walls of the tubular oil or gas well 30, wherein the walls of the tubular oil or gas well represent a material to be manipulated.

Disclosed is a photocurable and combustible composition, including an energetic prepolymer, a diluent and a photoinitiator; where the energetic prepolymer is one of or a mixture of two of acrylate-terminated poly(3-nitratomethyl-3-methyloxetane) and acrylate-terminated poly(glycidyl nitrate). The photocurable and combustible composition has an energetic group, i.e., a nitrate group, which can be subjected to self-sustaining combustion in an oxygen-free environment, and the composition can be used to prepare combustible components such as combustible ordnance components.
