Visual and infrared signature powder and preparation methods thereof
Provided herein are VIS-IR powders comprising tin which show significantly higher visual intensity, reduced reaction temperature and particle temperature during and after oxidation reaction in air, and improved resistance to clumping when compared to comparable powders without tin. Methods of preparation of said VIS-IR powders are also disclosed.

Pyrophoric foam materials and methods of making the same
An in-situ process for synthesizing highly pyrophoric foam materials using metal and carbon precursors wherein the precursors serve as foaming and activating agents to disperse and lock nano-sized metal particles within a rigid porous carbon matrix. The resulting carbon matrix is also pyrophoric.

Pyrotechnic compositions comprising nanostructured crystalline boron phosphide and oxidizer
A novel pyrotechnic composition comprising nanostructured crystalline boron phosphide and oxidizer such as potassium nitrate wherein the crystalline boron phosphide is synthesized by a self-propagating high-temperature reaction. The nanostructured crystalline boron phosphide and oxidizer pyrotechnic composition unexpectedly emits smoke and green flame upon ignition.
TRACER AMMUNITION
Tracer ammunition for tracking the trajectory and/or the impact of projectiles in the target generally contains pyrotechnics. These pyrotechnics demonstrate various disadvantages, wherein the most serious is the continued burning of the pyrotechnics, even after penetration of the projectile in the target. This causes an increased risk of fire and acute injuries. A mixture of light metal and a carbon-containing substrate, ignites during firing of a projectile and burns during its flight by means of air oxygen introduced into the combustion chamber by way of tear-off edges, and produces a tracer that extinguishes in the target.
Pyrophoric pellets that emit infrared radiation
The present disclosure relates to pyrophoric pellets that break apart into individual particulates or agglomerates when exposed to air and emit infrared radiation. The pyrophoric pellets include: (a) about 35 to about 95 wt. % of pyrophoric particles; (b) about 0.05 to about 30 wt. % of one or more thermally expandable particles; (c) about 1 to about 40 wt. % of one or more additives that modify IR signature; and (d) optionally, one or more additives that produce smoke at a temperature of 150 C. or greater. The pyrophoric pellets are particularly useful as countermeasures to protect against incoming missiles.

Noctilucent bang snaps and preparation methods thereof
Provided herein are noctilucent bang snaps capable of producing flashing light when thrown into the air after a short duration of light absorption and staying luminous for 30 minutes when scattered on the ground after falling and explosion, in order to provide the effects of nighttime visibility and ornament. A preparation method of the noctilucent bang snap is also provided that has the advantages of operational simplicity, technical stability, easy availability of raw materials, product excellence, and extremely high commercial value.
Perchlorate-free red pyrotechnic illuminant compositions
The present invention is a red-light-emitting composition based upon a potassium periodate oxidizer formulation, which is useful as the illuminant in the US military's M662 40 mm red star parachute projectile, and which composition is composed of readily commercially available ingredientsingredients that are environmentally friendly. Further, the subject inventive potassium periodate formulation provides significant enhanced illumination and safety versus the current military M662 illuminant which is based upon potassium perchlorate oxidizer formulation.
