A vaporizer device may include a pressure sensor and an ambient pressure sensor. The pressure sensor may be configured to measure a first pressure in an air flow path in the vaporizer device. The ambient pressure sensor may be configured to measure a second pressure corresponding to an atmospheric pressure. The vaporizer device may further include a controller. The controller may be configured to transition the vaporizer device to a first standby mode when the first pressure is equal to or greater than the second pressure for a first threshold quantity of time. While the vaporizer device is in the first standby mode, the controller may be further configured to transition the vaporizer device to a second standby mode when the second pressure is a threshold quantity greater than the first pressure and no motion event is detected for a second threshold quantity of time.

The operation unit selectively isolates the evacuation chamber from communication with an air inlet. At least one vacuum pump is operable to generate a vacuum in the evacuation chamber, while a heating element also operates. A mouthpiece is attached to the main housing, and may be selectively placed in communication with the evacuation chamber. When oil is placed in the evacuation chamber and the operation unit is operated, the evacuation chamber is temporarily sealed off from the inlet, creating a vacuum sealed chamber connected with the pump(s). Then, the pump(s) is/are activated to reduce pressure in the evacuation chamber, and the oil is vaporized at reduced pressure and at an elevated temperature. When the operation unit is released, the evacuation chamber is emptied via the mouthpiece.

A method of manufacturing a tip for use with smokable substances. A tube is rotated while applying heat in a horizontal and vertical direction to an end of the tube. The heated end is squeezed with rollers and while a rotating t-shaped plug is inserted into the heated end of the tube. The rollers and t-shaped plug are removed and a scoring wheel is applied to the tube to create a scratch. Then heat is applied to the scratch. An end of the tube is clamped with a rotating chuck and water is sprayed at the scratch to create a thermal shock which separates the tube into two pieces. Heat is applied to a section of one end of the pieces. Tapered rollers are applied to the heated section to taper a diameter of the piece along the heated section.
