A method of controlling operation of an inhaling device is provided, the inhaling device including a gas flow path through which gas can be drawn by the action of a user puff, a gas flow sensor within the gas flow path, and a memory, the method including recording gas flow measurements from the gas flow sensor; comparing the gas flow measurements with the user puff signature stored in the memory to provide a correlation score; and enabling or disabling further operation of the device based on a value of the correlation score. The method allows an inhaling device, such as an electrically operated smoking device or a medical inhaler, to authenticate a user of the device based on a detected puffing behavior.

Electronic cigarette and a method for controlling the electronic cigarette
10398177 · 2019-09-03 · ·

The present invention relates to an electronic cigarette and a method for controlling the electronic cigarette. The method for controlling electronic cigarette comprises: reading the available smoking time when an atomization circuit of the electronic cigarette is in a turn-off state and the electronic cigarette detects a user's smoking action; determining whether or not the available smoking time is equal to or less than the first preset value to obtain a first determination result; when the first determination result is YES, outputting a prompt message to remind the user that e-liquid is almost to be exhausted, and outputting the available smoking time and/or available smoking times of the electronic cigarette; determining whether the available smoking time is greater than the second preset value to obtain a second determination result; controlling the atomization circuit to stay in the turn-off state when the second determination result is NO.

Fibrous filtration material for electronic smoking article

The present disclosure relates to aerosol delivery devices, methods of forming such devices, and elements of such devices. Some aerosol delivery devices of the current disclosure include a reservoir having a liquid aerosol precursor composition, an electrical heater in fluid communication with the reservoir and configured to vaporize the liquid aerosol precursor composition to form an aerosol, and a filter operatively arranged relative to the electrical heater such that at least a portion of the formed aerosol passes therethrough, the filter being configured to selectively bind one or more undesirable impurities.

Smoking article with a mouth end cavity and ventilation

A smoking article (10) comprises a tobacco rod (12) and a filter (14) connected to the tobacco rod (12). The filter (14) comprises a first filter segment (20) and a hollow tube segment (22) downstream of the first filter segment (20). The hollow tube segment (22) defines a cavity (24) at the mouth end of the filter (14) providing an unrestricted flow channel that extends from the downstream end of the first filter segment (20) to the mouth end of the filter (14). The length of the hollow tube segment (22) is at least about 25 percent of the overall filter length. Further, the smoking article (10) comprises a ventilation zone (26) comprising at least one circumferential row of perforations provided at a location around the first filter segment (20).

Aerosol-generating device including reversibly connected heater and release medium

An aerosol-generating device is provided, including a reservoir configured to hold a liquid; a release medium; and a heater, wherein the reservoir and the release medium are configured to transport liquid from the reservoir to the release medium, wherein the release medium and the heater are disposed in physical contact with each other, wherein the aerosol-generating device further includes a means for reversibly releasing the physical contact between the release medium and the heater to form a gap between the heater and the release medium, and wherein the aerosol-generating device is configured to activate the heater when the gap is formed between the heater and the release medium. A method for forming an aerosol by the aerosol-generating device is also provided.
