IONIZABLE LIPID COMPOUNDS AND LIPID NANOPARTICLE COMPOSITIONS
Novel ionizable lipids, compositions, and methods of using the novel ionizable lipids and compositions are disclosed. Lipid nanoparticle compositions include a novel ionizable lipid as well as additional lipids such as phospholipids, structural lipids, and PEG lipids. Lipid nanoparticle compositions further including biologically active agents such as mRNA or DNA are useful in the delivery of biologically active agents to mammalian cells or organs.
Functionalized bile acids for therapeutic and material applications
The subject disclosure is directed to functionalized bile acids, preparation thereof, and usage thereof for therapeutic and material applications. In one embodiment, a method of generating functionalized bile acid materials can comprise directly activating a carboxylic acid of a bile acid compound using a coupling agent comprising an amide or ester compound, thereby generating an intermediate bile acid derivative material. The method can further comprise attaching a functional group material to the intermediate bile acid derivative material by reacting the functional group material and the intermediate bile acid derivative material, thereby generating a functionalized bile acid material.

Eflornithine is an agent that can be used to treat glioma, especially glioma of WHO Grade II or Grade III such as anaplastic glioma. Eflornithine can suppress or prevent mutations in glioma which can cause the glioma to progress to a higher grade. The present invention describes pharmaceutical compositions that contain eflornithine or a derivative, analog, or prodrug thereof. The pharmaceutical compositions can be prepared in a number of dosage forms and may contain another therapeutically active agent or an agent that enhances the therapeutic activity of the eflornithine or the derivative, analog, or prodrug thereof. The present invention also describes a kit that includes dosage forms of pharmaceutical compositions according to the present invention.
