Thione-platinum(II) complexes and pharmaceutical compositions thereof

Platinum(II) complexes having thione-based heterocyclic ligands as anticancer agents. The central platinum atom is coordinated by four of the ligands, each having a five-, six- or seven-membered heterocyclic ring with two nitrogen atoms at positions 1 and 3 of the ring and a thiocarbonyl group at position 2. Pharmaceutical compositions incorporated the platinum(II) complexes, methods of synthesizing the complexes and methods of treating cancers with the complexes or pharmaceutical compositions thereof are also described.

Urethanes, ureas, amidines and related inhibitors of factor Xa

The invention relates to a new class of compounds, their pharmaceutically acceptable salts and pharmaceutically acceptable compositions that are effective as selective inhibitors of factor Xa, both in the isolated state and in a complex with other proteins. The compounds of the invention can be used for treating and preventing diseases, such as acute coronary syndrome, myocardial infarction, unstable angina, refractory angina, thromboses caused by post-thrombolytic therapy or coronary angioplasty, acute ischemia mediated cerebrovascular syndrome, embolic stroke, thrombotic stroke, and other diseases in humans and other mammals associated with blood coagulation problems.

Methods for removing triazine from N-methylimidazole for synthesis of oligonucleotide

Methods for removing 1,3,5-trimethylhexahydro-1,3,5-triazine and N-methylenemethanamine from a N-methylimidazole and methods for making oligonucleotides using N-methylimidazole are provided. In one embodiment, a method for removing 1,3,5-trimethylhexahydro-1,3,5-triazine and N-methylenemethanamine from a feedstock containing N-methylimidazole includes contacting the feedstock with small or medium pore molecular sieves. The small or medium pore molecular sieves adsorb 1,3,5-trimethylhexahydro-1,3,5-triazine and N-methylenemethanamine from the feedstock. The method further includes separating the small or medium pore molecular sieves from the feedstock.

Reactive ionic liquid, and ion-immobilized metal oxide particle, ion-immobilized elastomer, and transducer using same

An ion-immobilized metal oxide particle includes a metal oxide particle and an anion that itself includes a) a reactive group that consists of an alkoxysilyl group and b) an anionic group consisting of a carboxylate (COO.sup.) group or a sulfonate (SO.sub.3.sup.) group, the anion being immobilized to the metal oxide particle via a silanol group derived from the reactive group. An elastomer includes the ion-immobilized metal oxide particle, and a transducer includes the elastomer.
