Expandable polystyrene-based resin particles may include a styrene-based monomer, a polysiloxane-containing macro monomer, and a coating composition having a melting point of 40 C. or greater. A coefficient of static friction of a foamed molded product, obtained by pre-expanding the expandable polystyrene-based resin particles and molding the pre-expanded expandable polystyrene-based resin particles, may be 4.0 or less. The expandable polystyrene-based resin particles may have a surface layer part that contains polysiloxane as a main component.

Provided is a resin composition for VaRTM (vacuum assisted resin transfer molding), which includes a radically curable resin (A), an unsaturated monomer (B) having a boiling point of 200 C. or higher under atmospheric pressure, and a polymerization initiator (C). This resin composition for VaRTM is advantageous not only in that the productivity for a molded article is excellent, but also in that a molded article having excellent appearance and various physical properties, such as a flexural strength and a flexural modulus, can be obtained, and therefore can be advantageously used in a molding material and a molded article.

Recyclable metathesis catalysts

Highly active, recoverable and recyclable transition metal-based metathesis catalysts and their organometallic complexes including dendrimeric complexes are disclosed, including a Ru complex bearing a 1,3-dimesityl-4,5-dihydroimidazol-2-ylidene and styrenyl ether ligand. The heterocyclic ligand significantly enhances the catalytic activity, and the styrenyl ether allows for the easy recovery of the Ru complex. Derivatized catalysts capable of being immobilized on substrate surfaces are also disclosed. The present catalysts can be used to catalyze ring-closing metathesis (RCM), ring-opening (ROM) and cross metatheses (CM) reactions, and promote the efficient formation of various trisubstituted olefins at ambient temperature in high yield.

Embolic compositions comprising macromers having a backbone comprising a polymeric backbone comprising units with a 1,2-diol or 1,3-diol structure, such as polyvinyl alcohol, and pendant chains bearing crosslinkable groups and, optionally, other modifiers. When crosslinked, the macromers form hydrogels having many properties advantageous for use as embolic agents to block and fill lumens and spaces. The embolic compositions can be used as liquid embolic agents and crosslinked in situ or as preformed embolic articles, such as microspheres.
