FUSIBLE OIL GEL COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING SAME

A gel composition is herein disclosed. According to one embodiment, the composition comprises a (i) a styrenic block copolymer, (ii) an oil; and (iii) optional additives; wherein the styrenic block copolymer has a structure ABi or iAB, wherein A is a monoalkenyl arene block, B is a conjugated diene block, and i is an isoprene attachment. The isoprene attachment i is substantially unsaturated and the conjugated diene block B is substantially saturated. The gel composition before curing exhibits thixotropic behavior, with a viscosity ranging from about 5000 mPa.s to about 30000 mPa.s. at 25 C. and a shear rate of 20 s.sup.1.

A novel photocurable resin composition including: a polymer with a weight average molecular weight of 1,000 to 50,000, the polymer having a structural unit of formula (1), and having a structure of formula (2) at an end: wherein X is a C.sub.1-6 alkyl group, vinyl group, allyl group, or glycidyl group; m and n are each independently 0 or 1; Q is a divalent hydrocarbon group having a carbon atom number of 1 to 16; Z is a divalent linking group having a carbon atom number of 1 to 4, wherein the divalent linking group is attached to the O group in formula (1); and R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or methyl group; a radical photopolymerization initiator; and a solvent. ##STR00001##

A wax-polymer compound includes (a) a polymer component that is a polymerized unsaturated monomer, optionally copolymerized with a vinyl-aromatic monomer, and (b) a halogenated hydrocarbon wax component. The polymer component is grafted to the halogenated hydrocarbon wax component, and the wax-polymer compound has a number average molecular weight of about 1,000 to about 100,000. A method of making the wax-polymer compound and a coated silica particle are also disclosed.

A wax-polymer compound includes (a) a polymer component that is a polymerized unsaturated monomer, optionally copolymerized with a vinyl-aromatic monomer, and (b) a halogenated hydrocarbon wax component. The polymer component is grafted to the halogenated hydrocarbon wax component, and the wax-polymer compound has a number average molecular weight of about 1,000 to about 100,000. A method of making the wax-polymer compound and a coated silica particle are also disclosed.

The invention relates to particles with an average particle size of 300 to 1000 m, comprising a modified polyvinyl alcohol having vinyl alcohol units and structural units represented by formula (1), wherein a content of the vinyl alcohol units is 60 to 90 mol % based on the total structural units:
