Leuco polymers as bluing agents in laundry care compositions
A leuco polymer comprising a polymeric carbohydrate and a leuco moiety. The polymeric carbohydrate and the leuco moiety are covalently bound. Methods of making the leuco polymer, laundry care compositions comprising the leuco polymer and methods of treating textiles with such laundry care compositions.
POLYMERIZABLE COMPOSITION FOR OPTICAL COMPONENT AND OPTICAL COMPONENT
The polymerizable composition is a polymerizable composition for an optical component, containing a polyiso(thio)cyanate compound, a polythiol compound, a first polymerization catalyst that catalyzes a thiol-ene reaction between the polyene compound and the polyiso(thio)cyanate compound, and a second polymerization catalyst that catalyzes a thiourethane reaction between the polyiso(thio)cyanate compound and the polythiol compound, wherein a content of the first polymerization catalyst is 0.10 parts by mass or less with respect to a total of 100 parts by mass of the polyene compound, the polyiso(thio)cyanate compound, and the polythiol compound.
Biostable segmented elastomers and thermoplastics and methods of making and using thereof
Polymers having mechanical properties approaching or exceeding commercial elastomers and engineering thermoplastics, but improved biostability, are described herein. In one embodiment, the polymers have a hard segment containing one or more disulfoxide or disulfone moieties and a soft segment connected to the hard segment to form an elastomeric polymer. The polymer is resistant to oxidation and/or hydrolytic degradation, particularly in vivo, which allows for the use of these materials in implants/devices which are implanted for an extended period of time. The ratio or percentage by weight of soft segment to hard segment can be varied based on the physical and mechanical properties of the desired device.

NOVEL CLASS OF SEQUENCE-DEFINED POLYMERS AND PREPARATION METHODS THEREOF
The invention provides a new class of synthetic sequence-defined polymer (SDP) and a method of synthesizing the same. The synthetic sequence-defined polymers have dithiocarbamate incorporated to the backbone. The method introduces a functional group dithiocarbamate in the backbone by using a new support-free, protection-deprotection free three-component reaction strategy. Dithiocarbamate-SDP is prepared from a unique bifunctional monomer, CS.sub.2 and chloroacetyl chloride. Chloracetyl chloride is used as a co-monomer. Different functional groups may be introduced in the dithiocarbamate-SDP via custom synthesis of monomers with the desired functional group, using the method disclosed. The SDPs may undergo modular post-synthetic modification through multiple paths. SDP is produced in multi-gram scale at low cost and in an eco-friendly manner through the method. No hazardous waste is produced in the process as HCl gas released from the reaction may be neutralized by bicarbonate in the medium.

Desalination of polyaryl ethers by means of melt extraction
The present invention relates to a process for preparing a polyaryl ether by reacting components (a1) and (a2) in the presence of a carbonate compound (C) to obtain a salt-containing polymer (SP) comprising the polyaryl ether and a salt (S). After the reaction, the salt (S) is extracted from the salt-containing polymer (SP) to obtain a desalinated polymer (DP) comprising the polyaryl ether.
