METHOD FOR PRODUCING A DIBLOCK COPOLYMER

The present invention relates to a process for producing a diblock copolymer comprising the reaction of at least one aromatic polyester having a melting point in the range from 160 C. to 350 C. and at least one polymer diol having a melting point of less than 100 C. at a temperature of greater than 200 C. to obtain a mixture (G-a); and the reaction of the mixture (G-a) with at least one diisocyanate, wherein the diisocyanate is employed in a molar amount of at least 0.9 based on the alcohol groups of the polymer diols. The present invention further relates to diblock copolymers obtained or obtainable according to such a process and to the use of such diblock copolymers for producing extruded, injection molded and pressed articles and also foams, cable sheaths, hoses, profiles, drive belts, fibers, nonwovens, films, moldings, plugs, housings, damping elements for the electricals industry, automotive industry, mechanical engineering, 3-D printing, medicine and consumer goods.

The processes include: (a) molding a plastic substrate in a first mold cavity of a mold comprising at least two cavities to form a molded plastic substrate; (b) introducing the molded plastic substrate into a second mold cavity of the mold; (c) introducing a coating composition into the second mold cavity containing the molded plastic substrate in order to coat the substrate, the coating composition comprising: (i) a polymer comprising isocyanate-reactive groups; and (ii) a polyisocyanate; (d) curing the composition in the second mold cavity; and (e) opening the mold cavity.

Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) compositions, methods for producing TPU compositions, methods of using TPU compositions, and apparatuses produced therefrom are disclosed. Disclosed TPU compositions include a thermoplastic polyurethane polymer, a heat stabilizer, a flow agent, and a filler material. The filler may be a glass fiber. Disclosed TPU compositions have improved thermal stability and improved flow properties suitable for injection molding of articles of manufacture having a large plurality of fine openings or pores. Articles produced from the composition have superior thermal stability, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance. Example articles include screening members for vibratory screening machines.
