Composition for one-component polyurethane foams having low free monomeric MDI content
A one component precursor for the polymeric foam (OCF) composition comprising a very low amount of free monomeric MDI. The present OCF composition may be obtained without any free MDI removal step, and without the addition of extra solvent to compensate for the substantially lower amount of free MDI, compared with traditional compositions. The present composition comprises a source of free NCO of functionality of at least 2.6, a tri- or higher functional alcohol, all polyols being characterized by a rather low molecular weight and at least a specific mono-functional alcohol as well as an isocyanate end-capped prepolymer of toluene diisocyanate (=end capped TDI). The OCF composition is suitable for being dispensed from a pressurized can with a blowing agent.
Dioxomolybdenum (VI) complex compounds as catalysts for polyurethane compositions
The invention relates to dioxomolybdenum (VI) complex compounds of the formula MoO.sub.2(L).sub.x(Y).sub.2-x, where the ligand L has the formula (I). Such complex compounds are suitable in particular as catalysts for one- and two-component polyurethane compositions. The invention also relates to two-component polyurethane compositions including at least one polyisocyanate as the first component, at least one polyol as the second component, and at least one such dioxomolybdenum (VI) complex compound as the catalyst. The invention further relates to one-component polyurethane compositions comprising at least one polyurethane prepolymer with isocyanate groups, which are made from at least one polyisocyanate with at least one polyol, and comprising such a dioxomolybdenum (VI) complex compound as the catalyst. The invention additionally relates to different uses of said polyurethane compositions. ##STR00001##
Polyurethane composites comprising nanocrystalline cellulose and method for improving properties of polyurethanes thereof
A process for preparing polyurethane composites includes (i) providing a dispersion of nanocrystalline cellulose in (a) one or more polyols, (b) one or more isocyanates, or (c) one or more polyols and one or more isocyanate, mixed together; wherein the amount of water in the nanocrystalline cellulose is less than about 1% w/w; (ii) mixing the dispersion of (i)(a) with an isocyanate or (i)(b) with a polyol and a catalyst to allow polymerization; or mixing the dispersion of (i)(c) and a catalyst to allow polymerization; and (iii) isolating the polyurethane composite. A method for improving properties of polyurethanes includes dispersing nanocrystalline cellulose into one or both parts of a two part polyol/isocyanate precursors prior to allowing polymerization of the precursors, wherein the amount of water in the nanocrystalline cellulose is less than about 1% w/w; mixing the dispersion with a catalyst; and polymerizing the precursors to provide the polyurethane.
FLEXIBLE POLYUREA SEALANT COMPOSITIONS
Disclosed are polyurea compositions and methods for using such composition as sealants, such as construction sealants.
TWO-COMPONENT COMPOSITION
A two-component composition, containing at least one silane-group-containing polymer that is liquid at room temperature, at least one epoxide liquid resin, at least one polyetheramine, and at least one aminosilane or mercaptosilane. The composition has low odor, cures quickly and without blistering at room temperature, and, when cured, forms a tough elastic material of high strength, high adhesive force, and good thermal resistance that has no tendency toward yellowing or substrate discoloration. The composition is excellently suitable as a tough elastic adhesive for structural adhesive joints in the field of construction and in industrial production.
CURABLE COMPOSITION OF LOW DENSITY

CLEAR SPRAYABLE SEALANT FOR AIRCRAFT PARTS AND ASSEMBLIES
Applicant discloses a two part polymer mix for use in the aircraft industry that is applied with pneumatic mix and spray gun. The two part cartridge is used in the mix and spray gun so the mix is applied immediately upon mixing, but the two components are kept separated unless the gun is applying the mix. The mix cures to form a clear sealant that allows for inspection of cracks and corrosion beneath the sealant. It cures quickly so that the coated part may be further processed, for example in the assembly line during aircraft build.
