Polyols for improved viscoelastic foams with reduced temperature sensitivity
This invention relates to a process for preparing viscoelastic polyurethane foam in which the isocyanate-reactive component comprises a specific polyol blend, and to viscoelastic polyurethane foam wherein the isocyanate-reactive comprises the specific polyol blend. The polyol blend may be an in situ formed polyol blend.
COMPOSITIONS SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONFERRING DURABLE SHAPING OF KERATINOUS FIBERS
Cosmetic compositions, systems and methods for conferring responsive durable shaping of keratinous fibers employ at least one shape memory polymer that includes a three-armed branched polyethylene glycol (PEG) based polymer that is functionalized with one or more metal-coordination active groups. The shape memory polymer forms a crosslinked network coating on a substrate, for example a substrate selected from keratinous substrates, for example, hair. Hair coated with the shape memory polymer and treated with an oxidizing agent can be shaped, locked into shape, and reprogrammed by modulation of pH. The coated hair retains durable shaping properties through at least one shampoo treatment. The cosmetic compositions, systems and methods provide durable and reprogrammable durable shaping of the keratinous substrate, for example for styling hair.
Drug Eluting Shape Memory Foam
Tumor resection is commonly practiced to prevent the progression of cancer. However, there are post-surgery concerns including the formation of a void that can allow cancer cells to escape at the surgery site, which increases the risk of metastasis. To counter this challenge, an embodiment includes a polyurethane-based shape memory foam as a tissue void-filling device that can also release anti-cancer drugs. Such foams may activate at body temperature and become malleable. Such properties may enable the foam to be shaped to precisely seal the tissue void and then serve as a drug-eluting device. Based on the drug composition with poly vinyl alcohol (PVA), the drug release profile from the foam may be altered depending on the application.
POST POLYMERIZATION CURE SHAPE MEMORY POLYMERS
This invention relates to chemical polymer compositions, methods of synthesis, and fabrication methods for devices regarding polymers capable of displaying shape memory behavior (SMPs) and which can first be polymerized to a linear or branched polymeric structure, having thermoplastic properties, subsequently processed into a device through processes typical of polymer melts, solutions, and dispersions and then crossed linked to a shape memory thermoset polymer retaining the processed shape.
All-aromatic high-performance block-copolymers
The invention is directed to a method for the preparation of a liquid crystal block copolymer, comprising melt polycondensation of a melt comprising at least two non-latent aromatic monomers and a latent aromatic monomer.
Hose with tunable flexibility using cyclizable, photochromic molecules
Embodiments of the disclosure generally provide methods related to articles that display reversible photoresponsive behavior.
TPU shrink material
The present invention relates to a method for producing a molded body (MB) comprising the production of a thermoplastic polyurethane, the production of a molded body (MB*) from the thermoplastic polyurethane, heating the molded body (MB*) to a temperature below the temperature at which there is permanent deformability of the molded body (MB*), and above the switching temperature of the thermoplastic polyurethanes, elongating the heated molded body (MB*) with obtention of a molded body (MB), and cooling the molded body (MB) to a temperature below the switching temperature of the thermoplastic polyurethane, and the molded body obtained or obtainable by such a method. The present invention further relates to a thermoplastic polyurethane with shape memory and the use of a thermoplastic polyurethane for producing a molded body with shape memory effect in a temperature range from 0 C. to 130 C.
Shape memory-based self-healing polymer composite reinforced with graphene foam
A shape-memory epoxy polymer graphene foam composite (SMEP-GrF) is formed from an open cell graphene foam (GrF) surrounded by and infiltrated with a shape-memory epoxy polymer (SMEP) matrix, with the GrF being an intra-connected framework within the SMEP matrix. The SMEP-GrF provides self-healing properties to a device fabricated from the SMEP-GrF. The SMEP-GrF is formed by infusion of an epoxy resin and hardener in an open cell GrF and curing the infused GrF.
POLYURETHANE WITH DELAYED RELAXATION BEHAVIOUR FOR COMPRESSION PRODUCTS
The invention relates to medical aids, in particular compression products, such as compression stockings or bandages. Specifically, the invention provides a compression product comprising an elastic component or material that comprises polyurethane polymers and shows a delayed continuous relaxation behaviour. The invention furthermore provides polyurethane polymers containing N-diol having a delayed continuous relaxation behavior and corresponding quaternized polyurethane polymers, a process for producing the polyurethane polymers, a blend with elastane, as well as uses thereof.
SHAPE MEMORY POLYMERS
Shape memory polymers allow the fabrication of objects that have a permanent (first) shape, and which can be programmed to adopt a temporary (second) shape, and are able to largely recover their original (first) shape by applying an appropriate stimulus. Materials that permit the fabrication of objects and devices that can (i) be provided in their permanent shape, (ii) be heated to a switching temperature above physiological temperature, at which the material becomes shapeable, (iii) be inserted into the body or placed in contact with the body and be deformed or shapedto assume a desired temporary shape, (iv) be fixed in the desired temporary shape by keeping the material/device/object at body temperature (about 37 C.) for a convenient period of time, (v) largely retain this temporary shape if removed from the body, and (vi) return largely to their original shape when heated again above the switching temperature. A process for making such materials and disclosed products based on such materials are disclosed.
