Pneumococcal polysaccharides and their use in immunogenic polysaccharide-carrier protein conjugates

The present invention provides capsular polysaccharides from Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes identified using NMR. The present invention further provides polysaccharide-protein conjugates in which capsular polysaccharides from one or more of these serotypes are conjugated to a carrier protein such as CRM197. Polysaccharide-protein conjugates from one or more of these serotypes may be included in multivalent pneumococcal conjugate vaccines having polysaccharides from multiple additional Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes.

The present invention is directed to a fully biodegradable material based on a plant protein. The present invention is also directed to a process method of making a gluten-based biodegradable material by a water induced flocculation step. A fully hydrated gluten dough with or without an additive or/and a filler formed from the flocculation step, which has low viscoelasticity, is further molded into an article with desired shapes under a low shear stress in a relatively low temperature range. A rigid or flexible biodegradable plastic article is obtained by removing extra water at a temperature lower than decomposition temperature of the gluten.

BIOMATERIALS AND METHODS RELATED THERETO

The present invention relates to biocompatible compositions comprising one or more crystallin proteins, and the use of such compositions in therapeutic and research methods, for example in surgical methods, in sustained release drug delivery, and in cell-based methods.

Methods and Compositions for Maintaining the Conformation and Structural Integrity of Biomolecules

A liquid ink composition includes a liquid phase and particles suspended in the liquid phase, the particles containing a target pharmaceutical or biological agent. The biological activity of the target pharmaceutical or biological agent is preserved upon suspension of the particles in the liquid phase. The liquid phase is capable of solidifying via a solidification process.

Photoactivated crosslinking of a protein or peptide

A method of crosslinking a protein or peptide for use as a biomaterial, the method comprising the step of irradiating a photoactivatable metal-ligand complex and an electron acceptor in the presence of the protein or peptide, thereby initiating a cross-linking reaction to form a 3-dimensional matrix of the biomaterial.
