INTEGRATION OF EX SITU FABRICATED POROUS POLYMER MONOLITHS INTO FLUIDIC CHIPS
Bare porous polymer monoliths, fluidic chips, methods of incorporating bare porous polymer monoliths into fluidic chips, and methods for functionalizing bare porous polymer monoliths are described. Bare porous polymer monoliths may be fabricated ex situ in a mold. The bare porous polymer monoliths may also be functionalized ex situ. Incorporating the bare preformed porous polymer monoliths into the fluidic chips may include inserting the monoliths into channels of channel substrates of the fluidic chips. Incorporating the bare preformed porous polymer monoliths into the fluidic chips may include bonding a capping layer to the channel substrate. The bare porous polymer monoliths may be mechanically anchored to channel walls and to the capping layer. The bare porous polymer monoliths may be functionalized by ex situ immobilization of capture probes on the monoliths. The monoliths may be functionalized by direct attachment of chitosan.
Virus removal membrane
A virus removal membrane is formed from a hydrophilized synthetic polymer, in which, when a solution containing gold colloids having a diameter of 20 nm is applied through a primary surface to the virus removal membrane to allow the virus removal membrane to capture the gold colloids for measurement of brightness in a cross section of the virus removal membrane, a value obtained by dividing a standard deviation of a value of an area of a spectrum of variation in the brightness by an average of the value of the area is 0.01 or more and 1.5 or less; and a thickness of a portion, where gold colloids having a diameter of 20 nm or more and 30 nm or less are captured, in the cross section of the virus removal membrane in a wet state is 10 m or more and 30 m or less.
Silicone rubber syntactic foam
The present invention relates to a novel silicone rubber syntactic foam and the silicone precursor of said foam.
Molded foam of ester-based elastomer, uses thereof, and expanded beads of ester-based elastomer
An ester-based elastomer expanded molded article comprising a fusion of expanded particles that contain an ester-based elastomer as a base resin.
COMPOSITE PARTICLES, COMPOSITIONS AND FOAM COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING COMPOSITE PARTICLES, ARTICLES, AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING SAME
Composite particles are provided including a chemical blowing agent particle encapsulated within a shell including an uncrosslinked thermoplastic material. The uncrosslinked thermoplastic material exhibits at least a certain minimum complex viscosity at a decomposition temperature of the chemical blowing agent particle. Also described are compositions and foam compositions containing the composite particles. Further, articles are provided including the foam compositions, such as a sheet, tape, or hearing protection article. Methods of making and using the foam compositions are additionally described herein.

Forward osmosis draw material
A hydrogel composite draw material for forward osmosis comprising: a porous elastic polymeric foam element including a three-dimensional continuous network of pores interpenetrated with a polymer hydrogel. In use, the hydrogel composite draw material draws a water flux of at least 3.5 L/m.sup.2h.
Combination of silica and graphite and its use for decreasing the thermal conductivity of vinyl aromatic polymer foam
The invention relates to the co-use of a) a certain type of silica and b) a certain type of graphite, wherein the silica and the graphite are used in a weight ratio in a range of from 1:1 to 1:10, for decreasing the thermal conductivity of vinyl aromatic polymer foam.
Layered structures
Disclosed, among other things, are ways to manufacture layered structures. In one embodiment, a foaming process may produce layered structures in reduced density plastics with or without integral skins. In another embodiment, a foaming process may produce deep draw structures in reduced density plastics with or without integral skins. In yet another embodiment, a foaming process may utilize additives, blends, or fillers, for example. In yet another embodiment, a foaming process may involve saturating a semi-crystalline polymer such as Polylactic Acid (PLA) with high levels of gas, and then heating, which may produce a reduced density plastic having high levels of crystallinity. These processes may be used to generate products with layered structures.
