Thermoplastic/thermoset grafted composites
Disclosed are thermoset/thermoplastic composites that include a thermoset component directly or indirectly bonded to a thermoplastic component via a crosslinked binding layer between the two. The crosslinked binding layer is bonded to the thermoplastic component via epoxy linkages and is either directly or indirectly bonded to the thermoset component via epoxy linkages. The composite can be a laminate and can provide a route for addition of a thermoplastic implant to a thermoset structure.
Polymer latex production method
A method for producing a polymer latex, including an emulsification step of emulsifying a polymer solution obtained by dissolution of synthetic polyisoprene and/or a styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer having a molecular weight distribution of 1.0 to 2.6 in an organic solvent, in water in the presence of a surfactant, to thereby obtain an emulsified liquid, wherein as the synthetic polyisoprene and/or styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer, used are/is synthetic polyisoprene and/or a styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer which, when dissolved in an organic solvent to thereby be formed into a polymer solution having a viscosity at a temperature of 60 C. of 20,000 cps, have/has a solid content concentration in the range of 10 to 60% by weight.
RUBBER-REINFORCING CORD AND RUBBER PRODUCT INCLUDING SAME
A rubber-reinforcing cord (12) of the present invention includes at least one strand. The strand includes at least one filament bundle and a coating provided to cover at least a portion of the surface of the filament bundle. The coating contains a polymer and cellulose nanofibers, and does not contain a resorcinol-formaldehyde condensate. The polymer contains at least one selected from a polyurethane and a rubber component. In the coating, the content of the cellulose nanofibers is 0.1 to 10 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the polymer. The proportion of the coating in the rubber-reinforcing cord is 18 vol % or more.
Rubber composition for hollow ball and hollow ball
A rubber composition for a hollow ball includes a base rubber, an inorganic filler composed of a large number of flat particles, and a carbon-based filler. As to the carbon-based filler, a degree of flatness DLc obtained by dividing an average particle diameter D.sub.50.sup.c (m) by an average thickness Tc (m) is not less than 50. A weight ratio Mc/Mi is not less than 0.01 and not greater than 1.00. The rubber composition is obtained by a production method including: a first step of mixing the base rubber and the carbon-based filler to obtain a master batch; and a second step of adding the large number of flat particles that form the inorganic filler, to the master batch to orient the large number of flat particles. The hollow ball 2 includes a core 4 formed from the rubber composition.
Inter-penetrating elastomer network derived from ground tire rubber particles
Crumb rubber obtained from recycled tires is subjected to an interlinked substitution process. The process utilizes a reactive component that interferes with sulfur bonds. The resulting treated rubber exhibits properties similar to those of the virgin composite rubber structure prior to being granulated, and is suitable for use in fabricating new tires, engineered rubber articles, and asphalt rubber for use in waterproofing and paving applications.
Methods for treating thermoplastic polyurethane covers for golf balls with epoxy compositions
Golf balls having covers made of thermoplastic polyurethane compositions are provided. Multi-piece golf balls can be made. In one embodiment, the outer cover layer is formed from a composition comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane and epoxy compound. Mixtures of multi-functional amines and imines, and multi-functional isocyanates, and epoxy curing agents; and solvent, can be applied to the outer cover. The resulting coating may contain polyurethanes, polyureas, and hybrids, copolymers, and blends thereof. The cover composition and surface coatings can further include catalysts, ultraviolet (UV)-light stabilizers, and other additives. The coating methods have many benefits and the finished balls have good physical properties.
