The present disclosure relates to a pressure sensitive adhesive foam comprising a rubber-based elastomeric material and at least one hydrocarbon tackifier, wherein the hydrocarbon tackifier(s) have a Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) value of less than 1000 ppm and a Volatile Fogging Compound (FOG) value of less than 1500 ppm, when measured by thermogravimetric analysis according to the weight loss test methods described in the experimental section. The present disclosure also relates to a method of manufacturing such a pressure sensitive adhesive foam and uses thereof.

Disclosed herein is a method of forming a photocurable polymer system. The method includes providing a polymer, providing a diaryl iodonium salt, blending said polymer and diaryl iodonium salt, applying the blend to a substrate; and crosslinking the blend. The polymer can be a silicone-based polymer, such as PDMS-ECHE. The polymer can also be ETBN. The blend can be crosslinked by exposing the blend to ultraviolet light, and the crosslinking can be cationic crosslinking. In one example, the wavelength of the ultraviolet light is 254 nm. The blend can be exposed to ultraviolet light for between about 10 seconds and 90 seconds. In one example, the blend is two percent by weight of the diaryl iodonium salt to the polymer.

Curative

A curative for epoxidized plant-based oils and epoxidized natural rubber is created from the reaction between a naturally occurring polyfunctional acid and an epoxidized plant-based oil is disclosed. The curative may be used to produce at least one of six different materials, wherein each type of material may be configured as a thermosetting elastomer that is crosslinked with β-hydroxyester linkages. The materials may be configured as a leather-like material, a foam material, a molded elastomer, a coating, an adhesive, and/or a rigid or semi-rigid material. Illustrative articles made from any combination of the six materials may be recycled using a mechano-chemical process to de-crosslink the thermosetting elastomer.

Provided are a carboxylic acid-modified nitrile-based copolymer latex composition, a preparation method thereof, a latex composition for dip-molding including the same, and an article molded by the same, the carboxylic acid-modified nitrile-based copolymer latex composition including: a carboxylic acid-modified nitrile-based copolymer, wherein the carboxylic acid-modified nitrile-based copolymer includes a 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate monomer-derived repeating unit in an amount of more than 0.1 wt % to less than 12 wt %, and a coagulum in the carboxylic acid-modified nitrile-based copolymer latex composition has an amount of less than 1 wt %.

Curative and method

A thermoset material containing β-hydroxyesters wherein said thermoset material is subject to a mechano-chemical process to regenerate an epoxide and a carboxylic acid functionality. A curative for epoxidized plant-based oils and epoxidized natural rubber is created from the reaction between a naturally occurring polyfunctional acid and an epoxidized plant-based oil is disclosed. The curative may be used to produce porosity-free castable resins and vulcanize rubber formulations based on epoxidized natural rubber. Materials made from disclosed materials may be advantageously used as leather substitutes.

Curative

A coating created entirely from plant-derived ingredients is disclosed. Illustrative embodiments of the coating may be particularly well suited for use on leather-like materials created from epoxidized natural rubber-based formulations. Illustrative embodiments of the coating created may be comprised of substantially the reaction product between epoxidized vegetable oil and a polyfunctional naturally occurring acid (such as citric acid). Illustrative embodiments this reaction product may be used to produce porosity-free castable resins and vulcanize rubber formulations based on epoxidized natural rubber. Materials made from disclosed materials may be advantageously used as leather substitutes.

[Solution] A foam includes a modified cellulose fiber (A) covalently bonded with a diene-based polymer, a thermoplastic resin and/or rubber (B), and a diene-based polymer (C) having a functional group capable of covalently bonding with a cellulose fiber, in which the fiber (A) is micronized, the fiber (A) has a content of 0.05 to 20% by mass, and the thermoplastic resin and/or rubber (B) has a glass transition point of −130° C. to 120° C.

The production process of the rubber composition includes: a first step of kneading a modified conjugated diene-based polymer that is obtained by polymerizing a monomer containing a conjugated diene compound and has at least one nitrogen-containing functional group selected from a primary amino group, a secondary amino group, a tertiary amino group and groups in which these amino groups have been converted into an onium group, and a basic compound having an acid dissociation constant of 8.0 or more; and a second step of kneading the kneaded product obtained in the first step and a cross-linking agent.

An aqueous adhesive composition for treating a reinforcing fiber for bonding to a thermosetting polymer matrix and products made therefrom such as power transmission belts. The adhesive composition includes: water as the solvent or dispersing medium; a polyelectrolyte co-curable with the polymer matrix; a primer material compatible with the fiber and co-curable with the polyelectrolyte; and optionally a rubber curative compatible with the polyelectrolyte and the polymer matrix. A fiber-reinforced, composite polymer system may thus include a thermosetting polymer matrix, a reinforcing fiber embedded therein, and an adhesive composition coating the fiber; the adhesive composition including a polyelectrolyte co-curable with the polymer matrix and a primer material compatible with the fiber and co-curable with the polyelectrolyte. The adhesive composition may include a curative compatible with the polyelectrolyte. In one preferred embodiment, the invention is an aqueous adhesive composition including water, an epoxy resin, a maleated polybutadiene derivative, and a curative.
