Treatment of Polymeric Surfaces of Objects
There are disclosed methods for reforming a polymeric surface of an article formed, for example, by additive process molding, and articles read in accordance with this process. The reforming of the surface results in reduced surface roughness such that the article is similar in surface smoothness to an article made by injection molding.
Sizing agent for inorganic fiber, inorganic fiber and production method therefor, and composite material
An inorganic fiber sizing agent that contains at least one carbon nanostructure selected from the group consisting of carbon nanotubes and carbon nanofibers, a resin, and a surfactant. If the total content of a nonvolatile content of the resin and the surfactant is taken as 100 parts by mass, the inorganic fiber sizing agent contains the surfactant at a ratio of 2 to 50 parts by mass.
PROCESSES FOR PRODUCING AND REPROCESSING A RECYCLABLE ETHYLENE-VINYL ESTER POLYMER
This invention relates to a process for producing a recyclable ethylene-vinyl ester polymer comprising reacting an ethylene-vinyl ester polymer having an irreversibly crosslinked structure with a poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), via a transesterification reaction, in the presence of a transesterification catalyst, to produce a recyclable ethylene-vinyl ester vitrimer. This invention also relates to a recyclable ethylene-vinyl ester vitrimer prepared according to the process.
RECYCLING METHOD
A method for recycling packaging wastes, referred to as first articles, made of PET or polyolefins (PO), that can be decolored in accordance with the key-locker principle, and second articles made of PET or PO, comprising the steps: (a) pre-sorting the first and second articles, (b) pre-washing the articles, (c) comminuting the articles to form flakes, (d) washing the articles, (e) dewatering and drying the flakes, (f) flake sorting, (g) extrusion, (h) solid-state polycondensation (SSP) in the case of PET wastes, or (i) decontamination in the case of PO wastes. The first articles are separated from the second articles by optical sorting and are decolored separate from the second articles in a decoloring step (j) by a reagent referred to as a key. The first decolored articles are temporarily stored (m) after step (j). After being stored, the first articles are fed to separate steps (g) and (h) or (i).
POLYOLEFIN RESIN POWDER SUITABLE FOR SELECTIVE LASER SINTERING AND ITS PREPARATION METHOD
A method for preparing a polyolefin resin powder has the steps of a) heat dissolving a polyolefin resin in an organic solvent having a solubility parameter less than or equal to the solubility parameter of the polyolefin resin to obtain a polyolefin resin solution; b) cooling the polyolefin resin solution to precipitate a solid, thereby obtaining a solid-liquid mixture; c) optionally adding an adjuvant to the solid-liquid mixture and mixing; and d) conducting solid-liquid separation and drying to obtain a polyolefin resin powder suitable for selective laser sintering.
The difference between the solubility parameters of the organic solvent and of the polyolefin resin is within 0-20% of the solubility parameter of the polyolefin resin. The polyolefin resin powder obtained according to this method has good antioxidant property, good powder flowability, moderate size, smooth surface, suitable bulk density, and suitable dispersibility and particle size distribution.
Methods for surface modification of materials
The invention concerns methods and compositions for modifying a surface of a material by anchoring a surface modifying additive to a polymer matrix using an anchor molecule, wherein the surface modifying additive and the anchor molecule are both added to a melt phase of the polymer matrix.
Method Of Manufacturing A Thermoplastic Molding Compound Powder
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing thermoplastic molding compound powder that consists of or comprises spherical or approximately spherical molding compound particles from a suspension of glass-like and/or ceramic and/or metallic substrate particles in a solvent in which a binder is dissolved that has a polymer soluble in the solvent, wherein the binder furthermore has one or more additives soluble in the solvent, with the method comprising the step of spray drying the suspension and with the spray drying being carried out such that the solvent partially or completely transitions into the gas phase.
SURFACE COVERING HAVING AN IMPROVED WEAR LAYER
Described herein is a floor covering comprising: a substrate, and a coating layer comprising a cross-linked polymer formed from a curable coating composition comprising an acrylate-functional resin; wherein the cross-linked polymer has a glass transition temperature equal to or greater than room temperature and has a cross-link density of at least about 0.0035 CC eq/gm as measured from the polymerization of carbon-carbon double bonds in the curable coating composition.
Process for producing pellets of soft copolymers
The present invention deals with a process for producing pellets from olefin copolymers. The process comprises: (i) melting the olefin copolymer in an extruder; (ii) extruding the molten olefin copolymer through a die plate into a pellet water bath in a pelletizer thereby producing strands of the olefin copolymer; (iii) cutting the strands of the olefin copolymer in the pelletizer into pellets; and (iv) drying the pellets. The pellet water in the pelletizer contains from 0.1 to 5% by weight of a colloidal silica based on the weight of the water.
Olefin multi-block copolymer / silicone rubber compositions and foams formed from the same
A composition comprising at least the following components: A) an olefin multi-block copolymer; and B) a silicone rubber that comprises pendant vinyl groups, and optionally comprises terminal vinyl groups.
