Bitumen composites with impregnated zeolites
A bitumen composite includes an amine-impregnated zeolite and bitumen. Forming the bitumen composite includes combining bitumen and an amine-impregnated zeolite to yield a mixture, heating the mixture to yield the bitumen composite.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RECYCLING ASPHALT SHINGLES
A system and method of producing a feedstock using asphalt shingle waste material includes: (a) providing an asphalt shingle material to a horizontal shaft hammer mill, and milling the material to produce a milled asphalt shingle material; (b) screening the milled asphalt shingle material to produce a milled and screened asphalt shingle material, wherein granules are removed from the milled asphalt shingle material; (c) introducing a heated asphalt flux to an attritor; (d) introducing the milled and screened asphalt shingle material to the attritor; (e) operating the attritor to process the contents of the attritor, producing a recycled asphalt mixture; and (f) passing the recycled asphalt mixture through a filter to produce an asphalt manufacturing feedstock.
POLYMER REINFORCED GLASS MAT WITH ENHANCED NAIL SHANK SHEAR RESISTANCE, SHINGLES INCLUDING THE SAME, AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an article comprising a reinforced glass mat. In some embodiments, the reinforced glass mat includes a glass mat and a reinforcement material. In some embodiments, the glass mat includes a web of glass fibers. In some embodiments, the reinforcement material is embedded into the web of glass fibers of the glass mat. In some embodiments, the reinforced glass mat includes a sufficient amount of the reinforcement material, so as to result in a nail shank shear resistance of 13 lbs to 17 lbs, when the article is tested according to ASTM 1761 at 140 F. Methods of making the article, specific embodiments of the reinforcement material in the form of a polymeric binder, and methods of forming a roofing shingle from the article are also disclosed.
Modified bitumen composition and process of preparation thereof
The present disclosure relates to a modified bitumen composition comprising: (a) at least two refinery residues; and (b) a sulphur additive comprising: (i) sulphur; (ii) at least one H.sub.2S suppressant; (iii) at least one smell masking agent; and (iv) bitumen, wherein the sulphur and the at least one H.sub.2S suppressant is in the weight ratio range of 4:1 to 100:1. The present disclosure also discloses a process of preparing a modified bitumen composition and a process of preparing an asphalt pavement comprising a modified bitumen composition. Also provided herein use of a modified bitumen composition as an additive for waterproofing and road construction.
Process for preparing foamed polymer-modified bitumen compositions
The invention relates to a process for preparing foamed polymer-modified bitumen compositions and to the use thereof for the production of asphalt. The invention also relates to foamed polymer-modified bitumen compositions obtainable by this process. Furthermore, the invention relates to a process for producing an asphalt composition and to the use thereof in road applications. The process for the preparation of the foamed polymer-modified bitumen composition comprises the following steps: i) Heating and pressurizing a bitumen to obtain a hot flowing bitumen stream, ii) Injecting under pressure an aqueous polymer dispersion into the hot flowing bitumen stream obtained in step i), to obtain a pressurized flowing mixed stream of the bitumen and the aqueous polymer dispersion; iii) Expanding the flowing mixed stream, in particular to atmospheric pressure, such that the water contained in the aqueous polymer dispersion vaporizes and foams the mixed stream to obtain a foamed polymer-modified bitumen.
METHOD FOR TREATING ASPHALT SHINGLES
A method for treating an asphalt shingle comprises applying a coating composition to a surface of an asphalt shingle, or to granules formulated for use in a granule layer of an asphalt shingle. The coating composition includes: (a) a film-forming component; and (b) a biocide component. The biocide component comprises (i) a first organosulfur component, (ii) a second organosulfur component different from the first organosulfur component, and (iii) an organozinc compound. The coating composition optionally further comprises (iv) a nitrogen-containing heterocycle that includes an attached alkylamino group and/or an attached alkylthio group, and/or (v) a carbamate compound.
Method, process and system for recycling an asphalt-based roofing material
The present disclosure provides a method, process and system for recycling an asphalt-based roofing material. In particular, the method, process and system are capable of removing and recovering an aggregate product, fiber product and an asphalt product from the asphalt-based roofing material. The aggregate, fiber and asphalt products each may be reused in a variety of applications.
Method and systems for transporting bitumen in solidified form
