POLARIZER PROTECTIVE FILM, POLARIZING PLATE, AND IMAGE DISPLAY APPARATUS

There is provided a polarizer protective film excellent in both bending resistance and adhesiveness with a polarizer. A polarizer protective film according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: an acrylic resin; and reinforcing particles dispersed in the acrylic resin. The reinforcing particles have flat shapes, and have a length-to-thickness ratio of 7.0 or less.

Resin blend

Provided are a resin blend for melt processing, a pellet and a method of preparing a resin article using the same. The resin blend may include a first resin, and a second resin having a difference in melt viscosity from the first resin of 0.1 to 3000 pa*s at a shear rate of 100 to 1000 s.sup.?1 and a processing temperature of the resin blend. The resin blend can improve mechanical and surface characteristics of a resin article. Further, since coating or plating is not required for manufacturing a resin article, a manufacturing time and/or cost can be reduced, and productivity can be increased.

Electroconductive composite substrates coated with electrodepositable coating compositions and methods of preparing them

The present invention is directed to a coated substrate comprising: A) an electroconductive composite substrate comprising a resinous matrix reinforced with fibers, and B) a cured coating layer electrophoretically deposited on at least at least a portion of a surface of the substrate, wherein the cured coating layer is deposited from a curable, electrodepositable coating composition comprising: (1) a resin component containing an active hydrogen-containing, cationic or anionic resin comprising an acrylic, polyester, polyurethane and/or polyepoxide polymer; and (2) a curing agent. The present invention is further directed to a process for coating a plastic, electroconductive substrate comprising electrophoretically depositing on the substrate the curable, electrodepositable coating composition described above, and heating the coated substrate to a temperature less than 250 F. for a time sufficient to cure the electrodeposited coating on the substrate.

INSERTION OF CATALYST INTO DRY CARBON FIBERS PRIOR TO RESIN IMPREGNATION

Systems and methods are provided for fabrication of enhanced carbon fiber laminates that utilize encapsulated catalyst. One embodiment is a method that includes acquiring a batch of dry fibers, and acquiring a batch of catalyst capsules that each comprise catalyst that accelerates polymerization of monomers of a resin, and a shell that encapsulates the catalyst and liquefies at a curing temperature. The method further includes interspersing the catalyst capsules among the dry fibers, and impregnating the fibers with the resin after interspersing the catalyst capsules with the fibers.

Recyclate verification

A composition for recyclate verification is produced by adding a predetermined quantity of one or more verification compounds to a base resin. Each of the verification compounds is thermally stable over a range of temperatures that includes the maximum processing temperature of the base resin but is less than the degradation temperature of the base resin. In some embodiments, a thermoplastic material provided for verification as a recyclate is analyzed to detect the presence (and, optionally, the loading level) of one or more verification compounds associated with the base resin of the thermoplastic material. In some embodiments, a computer-implemented method for recyclate verification is performed using a computer program product. In some embodiments, a thermoplastic material verified as a recyclate is heated to drive off the verification compound(s), then a known quantity of the verification compound(s) is added to the recyclate, which is then blended with virgin base resin material.

Oriented Multilayer Porous Film

Provided is an oriented multilayer porous film comprising at least one layer comprising: a heat, solvent, and degradation resistant matrix polymer; a plurality of interconnecting pores; and a porosity less than 90%. The film is made by a dry and/or wet method, with its multilayer structure constructed by coextrusion, lamination, and coating. The film of this disclosure finds a wide range of applications as a permselective medium for use in energy harvesting and storage, filtration, separation and purification of gases and fluids, CO.sub.2 and volatile capture, electronics, devices, structural supports, packaging, labeling, printing, clothing, drug delivery systems, bioreactor, and the like. The film is preferably used as a separator of lithium-ion, lithium-sulfur, lithium-air, metal-air, and nonaqueous electrolyte batteries.
