FILM COATED MINERAL-ENTRAINED POLYMERS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
A method for reducing friability and/or mineral dusting of a mineral loaded polymer is provided. The method includes providing a mineral loaded polymer article made from a monolithic material formed of at least a base polymer and an active agent. The active agent is in the form of minerals. The article has an external surface onto which a film coating is applied using a liquid solution that solidifies to form the film coating. The film coating substantially prevents release of the minerals outside of the article while at the same time provides gas permeability to facilitate transmission of a gas between an environment external to the film coating and the minerals loaded within the article.
Polyurethane foam, refrigerator including the same, and method of manufacturing polyurethane foam
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a polyurethane foam, a refrigerator including the same, and a method of manufacturing polyurethane foam. According with the present inventions, a refrigerator, comprising a polyurethane foam formed of a composition for preparing polyurethane, includes a cabinet; a door configured to open and close the cabinet; and a thermal insulation disposed in at least one of the cabinet and the door, wherein the thermal insulation includes a polyurethane foam-forming polyol system comprising a fiber having hydroxyl groups; and isocyanate.
BLENDED MEMBRANES FOR WATER VAPOR TRANSPORT AND METHODS FOR PREPARING SAME
Water vapor transport membranes for ERV and other water vapor transport applications are provided. The membranes include a substrate and an air impermeable selective layer coated on the substrate, the selective layer including a cellulose derivative and a sulfonated polyaryletherketone. In some embodiments the sulfonated polyaryletherketone is in a cation form and/or the selective layer includes sPEEK and CA in an sPEEK:CA (wt.:wt.) ratio in the range of about 7:3 to 2:3. Methods for making such membranes are provided. The methods include applying a coating solution/dispersion to a substrate and allowing the coating solution/dispersion to dry to form an air impermeable selective layer on the substrate, the coating solution/dispersion including a cellulose derivative and a sulfonated polyarylether ketone. In some embodiments the sulfonated polyaryletherketone is in a cation form and/or the coating solution/dispersion includes sPEEK and CA in an sPEEK:CA (wt.:wt.) ratio in the range of about 7:3 to 2:3.
PACKAGING MATERIAL HAVING ANTI-MICROBIAL PROPERTIES
A packaging with anti-microbial properties has a substrate, and a coating having a first polymeric component selected from the group consisting of polyacrylic resins, polyvinyl butyral polyurethanes, polyesters, polyvinyl alcohols, cellulosic polymers and mixtures thereof, a low adhesion, slip or release agent selected from the group consisting of polysiloxanes, carnauba wax, lecithin, fatty acids, fatty acid amides, fatty acid esters, magnesium stearate, vegetable oils, and mixtures thereof, an anti-microbial agent, and optionally one or more functional agents selected from the group consisting of a defoaming agent, a coalescing agent, a wetting agent, a cross-linking agent, and mixtures thereof. The coating has from 50 to 99.49% by weight of the first polymeric component, from 0.5 to 35% by weight of the low adhesion, slip or release agent, from 0.01 to 15% by weight of the anti-microbial agent, and from 0 to 10% by weight of functional agents, the percentage
PROCESS AND PLANT FOR RECYCLING TEXTILES
A process of treatment of waste blend textiles comprising polyester fibers and cotton fibres depolymerizes polyester in a controlled environment to obtain treated textile comprising cotton staple fibers suitable to be recycled into cotton yarns.
Polymer cellulose nanocrystal composite aerogels
Composite materials including cellulose nanocrystals incorporated into a polymer aerogel scaffold, wherein the cellulose nanocrystals serve as a reinforcement agent to result in the formation of less dense aerogels, improve the tensile mechanical properties of aerogel films, and reduce aerogel shrinkage upon thermal exposure. After gelation, the gel is dried via a suitable method such as supercritical CO.sub.2 extraction, freeze drying or other method, to produce the CNC/polymer composite aerogel. Properties of the composite aerogel can be tailored via surface modification of the cellulose nanocrystals as well as through the backbone structure of the polymer.
THERMALLY EXPANDABLE COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING POLYSACCHARIDE
The present application relates to a thermally expandable composition containing at least one peroxide cross-linking polymer, at least one peroxide, at least one polysaccharide and at least one endothermic, chemical blowing agent; as well as to shaped bodies containing said composition and to a method for sealing and filling voids in components, for strengthening or reinforcing components, in particular hollow components, and for bonding mobile components using shaped bodies of this type.
ANTAGONIST OF THE FIBROBLAST GROWTH FACTOR RECEPTOR 3 (FGFR3) FOR USE IN THE TREATMENT OR THE PREVENTION OF SKELETAL DISORDERS LINKED WITH ABNORMAL ACTIVATION OF FGFR3
The present invention relates to the treatment or prevention of skeletal disorders, in particular skeletal diseases, developed by patients that display abnormal increased activation of the fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3), in particular by expression of a constitutively activated mutant of FGFR3.
GRAPHENE OXIDE BARRIER FILM
Described herein is a transparent graphene and polymer based nanocomposite barrier film that provides gas, fluid, and/or vapor resistance. Also described is a barrier film where the graphene may be selected from reduced graphene oxide, graphene oxide, and is also functionalized or crosslinked. Also described is a barrier film where there is crosslinking between the graphene and/or the polymers to provide enhanced water resistance. A barrier device is also described that incorporates the barrier film and further comprises a substrate and a protective coating, encompassing the barrier film. Also described are methods for making the aforementioned barrier films and related devices.
