20190002650 · 2019-01-03 ·

A process and device continuously prepare a filled rubber masterbatch. The process comprises bringing into contact, in a mixing zone, a first liquid-phase flow and a second liquid-phase flow, the first flow being an elastomer emulsion, the second flow being an aqueous suspension of filler particles, such that one of the two flows emerges inside the other flow and that the two flows are transported at low pressure before they are brought into contact.

Crumb rubber-containing composites and masonry blocks thereof

A cementitious composite and cured masonry block made from the cementitious composite. The cementitious composite contains a cement, a non-rubber aggregate, a crumb rubber and at least one of cement kiln dust and limestone powder. The crumb rubber aggregate is extracted from scrap tires after being processed and then mixed in specified percentages with the aggregate, the cement and water, then cured in forms to make the masonry blocks. In the present disclosure sand, which is used in conventional masonry blocks, is at least partially replaced with crumb rubber to produce a sand-free or sand-reduced masonry block that contains crumb rubber. The crumb rubber masonry blocks satisfy the ASTM non-load bearing requirements. The use of crumb rubber decreases the unit weight and increases thermal resistance of the masonry blocks. The use of cement kiln dust or limestone as a partial replacement of cement will lead to decrease in the cost. The use of industrial waste materials, such as crumb rubber, limestone powder and cement kiln dust, will lead to economic and environmental benefits.

METHOD OF RECYCLING RUBBER

A method of recycling rubber includes pre-treating vulcanized ground rubber to prevent the vulcanized ground rubber from encountering significant additional crosslinking during co-vulcanization with fresh rubber compound, and promoting better bonding between the vulcanized ground rubber and the fresh rubber compound. The ground vulcanized rubber can be coated with a layer of non-vulcanized rubber that includes cure inhibitors or other ingredients dispersed within the layer to aid in the coating process and/or co-vulcanization of the vulcanized ground rubber and fresh rubber compound. The vulcanized ground rubber can also be pre-treated with a mixture of at least one chemical curing agent inhibitor and a solvent capable of solubilizing the chemical curing agent inhibitor and dispersing the curing agent inhibitor within the vulcanized ground rubber.

Method for manufacturing an elastomeric composition having a self-sealing property

Process for the manufacture of an elastomer composition having a self-sealing property which is based on at least (phr meaning parts by weight per 100 parts of solid elastomer): a solid unsaturated diene elastomer; between 30 and 90 phr of a hydrocarbon resin; from 0 to less than 30 phr of filler; between 0.5 and 15 phr of thiuram polysulphide, in which, during a first stage or stage (a), a masterbatch comprising at least the solid unsaturated diene elastomer and between 30 and 90 phr of a hydrocarbon resin is prepared by mixing these various components in a mixer at a hot compounding temperature or up to a hot compounding temperature which is greater than the softening temperature of the hydrocarbon resin.

METHOD FOR PRINTING ON FLEXIBLE LOW SURFACE ENERGY SUBSTRATES
20180093298 · 2018-04-05 · ·

A method for printing on a low surface energy substrate. The low surface energy substrates may be flexible low surface energy substrates. A primer is applied to the surface of the low surface energy substrate using a spray coating system. A pressure pot spray system that oscillates as the substrate passes underneath it on a conveyor system may be used. The primer is then allowed to air dry. Once dry, a printer can be used to print a graphic, design or other ornamental feature on the primed surface of the substrate. Once printing is complete, a clear coating is applied to the substrate and then cured.
