One embodiment provides an optionally oriented base film having a first side and a second side, wherein the optionally oriented base film base film is transparent or opaque. Further, the composition includes a water-based primer applied to the first side. Further still, the composition includes a water-based coating applied to the first side having the water-based primer disposed thereon, wherein the water-based coating has a weight of at least 0.1 g/m.sup.2, wherein the composition is curl-free and has a barrier to one or more migratory additives and components in a hot-melt adhesive on the first side.

Thermoplastic foams and method of forming them using nano-graphite

Rigid foam insulating products and processes for making such insulation products are disclosed. The foam products are formed from a polymer, a blowing agent, and nano-graphite. The nano-graphite has a size in at least one dimension less than about 100 nm and, in exemplary embodiments may be an intercalated, expanded nano-graphite. In addition, the nano-graphite may include a plurality of nanosheets having a thickness between about 10 to about 100 nanometers. The nano-graphite acts as a process additive to improve the physical properties of the foam product, such as thermal insulation and compressive strength. In addition, the nano-graphite in the foam controls cell morphology and acts as a nucleating agent in the foaming process. Further, the nano-graphite exhibits overall compound effects on foam properties including improved insulating value (increased R-value) for a given thickness and density and improved ultraviolet (UV) stability.

COMPOSITION, METHOD OF MAKING COMPOSITION, AND ARTICLE

A composition having pH of 5 or less comprises composite particles dispersed in an aqueous continuous liquid phase. Each composite particle comprises a polymer core surrounded by a silicaceous shell. From 3 to 50 percent of silicon atoms in the silicaceous shells are bonded to respective organic groups via a silicon-carbon covalent bond. The weight ratio of the total amount of the silica in the composition to the total amount of the at least one polymer is from 0.1 to 19. The composition is useful for making various articles. A method for making the composition is also disclosed. Silicaceous particles dispersed in an aqueous phase, wherein from 3 to 50 percent of silicon atoms in the silicaceous particles are bonded to organic groups via a silicon-carbon covalent bond are also disclosed.

The present invention relates to a coated film comprising a polyester film and a coating layer formed on at least one surface of the polyester film, the coating layer being prepared from a coating solution comprising a (meth)acrylate compound, a reactive silica comprising a (meth)acryloyl group, and an isocyanate-based compound.

In the gas-barrier packaging material, the protective layer contains the polyvalent metal compound by about 40 to 90 wt % relative to 100 wt % of the protective layer. When the second barrier layer is separated and an infrared absorption spectrum of the second barrier layer after separation is measured by a transmission method, a ratio between a maximum peak height in a range of about 1,490 to about 1,659 cm.sup.1 and a maximum peak height in a range of about 1,660 to about 1,750 cm.sup.1 as expressed by / is less than about one.

A polyvinyl chloride polymer (PVC) composite material is described herein. The PVC composite material includes 40-60 parts by weight of PVC, 40-60 parts by weight of calcium carbonate, 0.2-0.6 parts by weight of composite foaming agent, 3-5 parts by weight of foam regulator, 2-4 parts by weight of toughener, 0.8-1.2 parts by weight of lubricant, and 2-3 parts by weight of stabilizer.
