A gas barrier film including a polymer base, an undercoat layer that contains, as the main component, an acrylic resin having at least one side chain selected from the group consisting of the side chains (I) to (III) mentioned below, and an inorganic layer, wherein the undercoat layer and the inorganic layer are arranged in this order on at least one surface of the polymer base in such a manner that the undercoat layer and the inorganic layer are in contact with each other: (I) a side chain having an acrylic polymer skeleton; (II) a side chain having a dimethylsiloxane skeleton; and (III) a side chain having a skeleton containing a fluorine atom.

The present invention relates to a resin composition for preparing foamed rigid polymer products, comprising at least one polymer resin, a surface-treated calcium carbonate having a weight median particle diameter d.sub.50 of between 0.1 m and 1 m, measured according to the sedimentation method, in an amount of at least 10 parts per hundred parts of the at least one polymer resin (phr) and a blowing agent in an amount of less than 1 phr, to a foamed rigid polymer product prepared from the composition, to a method for preparing a foamed rigid polymer product as well as to the use of a calcium carbonate for reducing the density of a foamed rigid polymer product.

QUANTUM DOT COMPOSITIONS INCLUDING POLYCARBONATE AND ACRYLIC BLENDS AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE

Disclosed is a quantum dot composition comprising: a polycarbonate resin, a polycarbonate copolymer resin, or a combination thereof; a quantum dot concentrate including a plurality of nanoparticle quantum dots and an acrylic polymer, a methacrylic polymer, or a combination thereof; and a compatibilizer for promoting dispersion of the nanoparticle quantum dots in the quantum dot composition. The compatibilizer includes a transesterification catalyst, a physical compatibilizer, a plurality of semiconductor nanopartides passivated with a metal oxide, or a combination thereof. Further disclosed is a method for making a quantum dot composition, the method including: forming a quantum dot concentrate by combining a plurality of nanoparticle quantum dots with an acrylic polymer, a methacrylic polymer or a combination thereof; and combining the quantum dot concentrate with a compatibilizer and a polycarbonate resin, a polycarbonate copolymer resin, or a combination thereof.

Prepared is a film having at least one surface having a kurtosis (Rku) of greater than or equal to 2 and total height (Rt) of greater than or equal to 1m.

The dynamic friction coefficient of the surface may be less than or equal to 0.25, and the relative dynamic friction coefficient may be less than or equal to 0.3.

The film includes a low-friction layer formed of a cured product of a curable composition including a curable resin, and the surface of the low-friction layer may have an Rku and an Rt within the range mentioned above.

The curable resin may include at least one selected from the group consisting of a (meth)acrylic polymer having a polymerizable group, a urethane (meth)acrylate, and a silicone (meth)acrylate.

The curable composition may further include a cellulose ester.

The curable composition may be free of fine particles.

The film can reduce the dynamic friction coefficient even if the surface of the film is formed of a wide range or materials.

METHOD OF COVERING A PLASTIC SURFACE WITH A PERMANENT COATING

The invention particularly relates to a method of applying a permanent coating to a plastic surface of a first part, comprising the following steps: applying to said plastic surface a layer of a polyamide-based hot-melt material, maintaining this layer of hot-melt material on said plastic surface for a period of time ranging from a few minutes to several hours, removing this layer of hot-melt material from this plastic surface; and applying a permanent coating to said surface, said permanent coating being based on polyurethane, an epoxy resin or polyesters, a polycarbonate and/or an acrylic resin; as well as the use of such a method in the automotive industry.

Decorative film and article integrated therewith

A decorative film that can handle various adherend shapes and application methods and has a visual effect that changes according to viewing angle. The decorative film of one embodiment includes a substrate layer, a photoluminescent layer that is adjacent to the substrate layer and has an unevenly-shaped surface, a transparent resin layer adjacent to the photoluminescent layer, and an outermost layer. A storage elastic modulus of at least the substrate layer or the transparent resin layer is 110.sup.6 Pa to 1.510.sup.8 Pa in a temperature range of 100 C. to 150 C. when measured under conditions of a frequency of 10 Hz and a shearing mode.

Thermoplastic films having asymmetric properties

A thermoplastic film is provided that includes a biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate (PET) layer, a tensile strength in the longitudinal and transverse directions of about 2000 kg/cm.sup.2 or 3000 kg/cm.sup.2 or more, and a tear force in the longitudinal direction that is about 1.5 times as large as a tear force in the transverse direction. Such a film can include two or more layers. Processes for producing the thermoplastic film are also provided.

POROUS POLYMER COATINGS

The present invention provides porous polymer coatings having adhesive and air flow resistive properties. The porous polymer coating comprises a polymeric foam having a void fraction of greater than about 15% and an air permeability greater than 3 cubic feet per minute per square foot as measured based on ASTM D737-04.

Prepreg and method for producing same

This prepreg comprises reinforcing fibers and a matrix resin composition. The matrix resin composition comprises at least an epoxy resin (component (A)), a radical polymerizable unsaturated compound (component (B)), and a polymer formed by radical polymerization of the component (B) (component (E)).
